Samsung is working on a new rugged smartphone, which is said to be named the Galaxy XCover 7. Recently, the official renders of the device were leaked online, revealing its robust design. Today, the team at MySmartPrice spotted the alleged Galaxy XCover 7 smartphone on the Geekbench database with SM-G556B model number.

The smartphone scored 663 in a single-core test and 1867 in a multicore test. The listing also confirms the Android 14 and 6GB of RAM. It also indicates that the device will feature a Mali-G57 MC2 GPU and a CPU with a maximum clock speed of 2.20GHz, probably the MediaTek Helio G99 or potentially the Dimensity 6100 Plus if it transpires to be the 5G variant, as both SoCs share identical cores. We have recently observed the same chipset in the upcoming Galaxy A15 5G.

Samsung Galaxy XCover 7 Design

As per the leaked images, the upcoming Galaxy XCover 7 is expected to have a strong and durable design, similar to earlier XCover series phones. Its sturdy build with raised corners for shock absorption is likely to meet MIL-STD-810H standards for drop resistance. We can also expect it to have IP68 protection against dust and water.

According to recent reports, the rear panel of the Galaxy XCover 7 appears to have a grooved design and is removable. This implies that the Galaxy XCover 7 will feature a removable battery. However, the report doesn’t provide details about the handset’s battery capacity and charging speed.
The display panel of the Galaxy XCover 7 has thick bezels, as expected, with a rugged smartphone. It is likely to house the selfie shooter inside a water drop-shaped notch. We don’t have any information about the Galaxy XCover 7’s display panel. But it is fair to expect the South Korean conglomerate to offer the Glove Touch feature with the device.

Moreover, the Galaxy XCover 7 seems to have a single rear camera with a red accent ring around it. The previous-generation XCover series smartphone, the XCover 6 Pro, offers a dual-rear camera setup. This also suggests that the upcoming smartphone might not be a successor to the XCover 6 Pro.

The smartphone is also expected to provide a customizable XCover key housed along the left edge with a red accent colour. This key can be used to perform specific tasks such as opening apps, barcode scanning, push-to-talk, and more. The volume rockers and the power button on the handset are seems to be housed along the right edge.

According to the rumour mill, the Galaxy XCover 7 will be a rugged version of the Galaxy A55 5G. The handset is expected to cost less than the Galaxy XCover 6 Pro, which is priced at $599 (roughly Rs 50,000).
