Original Story Follows…

It is about to be a year since PlayStation VR2 aka PSVR2 went official in the global markets but there are no words on the Indian release yet. But if the rumour mill is to be believed, the long wait for Sony’s next-gen VR headset is about to be over. An alleged PSVR2 marketing material for Indian release including pricing details is making rounds of the internet. Here is what we know so far.

Sony PlayStation VR2 India Launch and Price

Rishi Alwani, an industry insider and reliable tipster when it comes to all things about the Indian gaming space, has tweeted that PlayStation VR2 is about to get an Indian launch. It is expected pre-orders for the next-gen Sony VR headset could go live as early as this week itself.

The tweet mentions PlayStation VR2 will be priced at Rs 57,999 with no games included. The PSVR2 Horizon Call of the Mountain bundle is tipped to cost around Rs 62,000 in India. This is undoubtedly an expensive pricing for a VR headset, especially considering other options where you get a more robust library of VR games and experiences.

Another X user Devang Chhabria shared an alleged PlayStation VR2 marketing material. The leaked image has the tagline “Feel A New Real” and it shows the VR headset along with controllers. It mentions the price as Rs 57,999 and availability as “Available Now”. The user said, “Someone shared in my group. Seems a Sony Center shared it with them.”

The marketing material may be a legit thing considering companies are known to share them with retailers ahead of the actual launch. Nevertheless, we will get to know the truth in the coming days. Amazon India currently has PS VR2 and PS VR2 Horizon Call of the Mountain bundle listings priced at Rs 54,990 and Rs 57,990 respectively. This is certainly cheaper than the tipped pricing but we would suggest not to spend your hard-earned money just yet. These could be imported units with no India warranty and you should wait until Sony makes an official announcement about the PSVR2 India release and availability.
