Tecno is working on the successor to its first foldable, Tecno Phantom V Fold. The company debuted the Phantom V Fold smartphone at the Mobile World Congress 2023. Now, the forthcoming Tecno Phantom V2 Fold has appeared on the web. Worth noting that Tecno also introduced India’s cheapest clamshell smartphone – Tecno Phantom V Flip – in September 2023.
The V Flip smartphone is the second book-style foldable smartphone from Tecno. A report from GSMChina confirms the IMEI listing of the upcoming Phantom V2 Fold. The report reveals the launch timeline and the model number of the forthcoming foldable.
GSMChina reveals that the upcoming foldable smartphone from Tecno will bear the model number AE10. The IMEI listing of the handset confirms the Tecno Phantom V2 Fold moniker. The reporter further states that Tecno will debut the smartphone in Q1 of 2024.
The upcoming V2 Fold smartphone is tipped to come equipped with the recently launched MediaTek Dimensity 9300 SoC. The chipset is built on a 4nm process and has an eight-core architecture. The chipset has one Cortex-X4 core clocked at 3.25GHz, three Cortex-X4 cores running at 2.85GHz, and four Cortex-A720 cores tuned at 2.0GHz. The silicon comes with a Mali-G720 Immortalis MP12 GPU.
The smartphone is reported to run on the next generation of Hi OS Fold based on Android 14 out of the box. Tecno aims to increase the durability of the second-generation foldable smartphone with a new slim form factor. There is no information regarding the specifications of the upcoming Phantom V2 Fold smartphone.
To recall, the Tecno Phantom V Fold smartphone features a foldable 7.85-inch LTPO AMOLED display with a resolution of 2000 x 2296 pixels. In the folded state, you can interact with a 6.42-inch LTPO AMOLED display producing 1080 x 2550 pixels. The primary and cover display of the Tecno Phantom V Fold smartphone is protected with Corning Gorilla Glass Victus. The smartphone runs on HiOS 13 Fold based on Android 13 out of the box.
Under the hood, the Phantom V Fold draws power from the MediaTek Dimensity 9000+ SoC. The chipset is paired with 12GB RAM and 128 / 256GB of UFS 3.1 storage. The Tecno Phantom V Fold features a triple-camera setup in a circular camera module, comprising a 50MP primary sensor with f/1.9 aperture and PDAF, a 50MP telephoto lens with f/2.0 aperture, 2x optical zoom support, and a
13MP ultra-wide-angle lens with f/2.2 aperture and a field of view of 120˚. Tecno has equipped the smartphone with two selfie cameras. The primary display has a 16MP sensor, and the cover display features a 32MP lens.
