With its upcoming original The Hunt for Veerappan, Netflix is prepared to shed light on the life of the notorious poacher Veerappan, who became known as the “Robin Hood of India.” One of the most feared criminals in the nation, the smuggler was known for his signature handlebar moustache and thin cheeks. He was responsible for holding two states hostage for many years while operating out of the thick forests of South India.
The four-part documentary series was created by Delhi Crime producer Apoorva Bakshi and directed by Selvamani Selvaraj, who is making her directorial debut. The documentary series, which was originally made in Tamil and English, will also be available in Hindi, Kannada, Telugu, and Malayalam. Netflix will start streaming it on August 4.

The official synopsis of this documentary series claims that it recounts the ascent and fall of infamous smuggler Veerappan, whose violent rule spurred a 20-year chase in south India. The series’ teaser was released on Thursday, providing a peek at Veerappan’s ascent and how he became the target of India’s most extensive and expensive manhunt.
We learn about how he and his gang murdered more than 119 people as a chilling song plays in the background. As he talks about the former home minister, an old video of LK Advani is also being aired.
