Vivo just released the Y71i, a variant of the Vivo Y71 this month, but it looks like the company is already looking forward to upgrade the series soon. A new listing of a Vivo Y73 was found on the official company website with all its specifications and pricing details yesterday. The Y series is an entry-level range from the Chinese smartphone maker and the Y73 come with an upgrade in key areas like the processor, camera, RAM and more. Do note that even though the listing is on the official website but the company has not announced the phone officially. However, it shouldn’t take a lot of time now.
The Vivo Y73 comes in three variants – 4GB + 64GB, 3GB + 64GB, 3GB + 32GB. However, the 3GB variant listing appears to be taken down. The 4GB variant costs ¥ 1099 while the 3GB + 64GB variant is priced ¥ 899 and colour options are Matte Black, Champagne Gold, and Red. Shipping starts on November 1.
In terms of specs, the Vivo Y73 features a 5.99-inch HD+ display with a resolution of 1440 x 720p and an 18:9 aspect ratio. That’s pretty much the same as the Vivo Y71i. The listing says the handset is driven by an octa-core Snapdragon 439 chipset clocked at 1.4GHz. The chip was announced in mid-2018. The processor will be accompanied by 4GB of RAM and 64GB of onboard storage which is expandable up to 256GB. The handset houses a triple card slot instead of a hybrid one which is another good addition.
As for optics, the Vivo Y73 sports a 13MP rear shooter and a 5MP front camera. Vivo also adds that there’s face unlock and AI Beauty software baked into the device. The dual-SIM handset will run Android 8.1 Oreo topped by FunTouch OS 4.5 on first boot most likely sipping power from a 3360mAh battery. The handset now also has fingerprint as opposed to the Vivo Y71 which is a good addition.
In terms of connectivity, there’s 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, USB 2.0, GPS, and OTG as well. Vivo doesn’t mention the weight of the handset but describes the dimensions as 155.87 x 75.74 x 7.8mm. In terms of looks, the handset adopts last year’s design language with a metal unibody design and fairly slim bezels with a single rear camera on the top left corner at the back and a fingerprint in the centre.
The Vivo Y73 will be an affordable handset that will replace the Vivo Y71 soon. However, that will need an official announcement from Vivo in the coming days.
