Apple’s annual developer conference, WWDC or the Worldwide Developers Conference event for 2022 will kickstart tonight. The conference will help the developers and designers explore the latest technologies, tools, and frameworks coming to iOS, iPadOS, macOS, tvOS, and watchOS straight from the experts and creators at Apple. The event will start tonight (June 6) and continue until June 10 with lots of in-depth sessions, activities, awards, etc.

While most of the things are related to developers and designers, for those who are interested in the latest and upcoming tech from the house of Apple, the initial keynote will include all this information ranging from new hardware announcements (expected) to new software enhancements and features across all Apple product ecosystem. Here are all the expected announcements from tonight’s Apple WWDC 2022 Keynote.

WWDC 2022: How to Watch it Live and Timings

The WWDC Keynote is scheduled to take place at 10 a.m. PT today, which is 10:30 PM IST in India. This will be a free conference to attend as the event will be streamed online. The event will be live-streamed on YouTube and alternatively, you can also watch it on apple.com, the Apple Developer app, and the Apple TV app. Apple’s CEO Tim Cook and other VPs from Apple will host the Keynote event and the Keynote is likely to last anywhere between 90 minutes to 120 minutes.

With that said, now let’s take a look at the few things we can expect from the event.

Apple M2 Chip

Two years ago, at WWDC 2020, Apple announced its transition to Apple silicon. Today. Apple is expected to announce the next-gen M2 chip, after the success of the Apple M1, M1 Pro, and M1 Max chips. The M2 chip is also likely to power the next-gen Macbook Air. The M2 chip is expected to be built on TSMC’s 4nm fabrication and could have 8 cores in the CPU. It might feature one or two additional GPU cores compared to the last-gen and might offers support for up to 16GB/32GB RAM.

Apple’s latest software for smartphones, the iOS 16 is expected to make its debut tonight. The iOS 16 beta might be announced today and Apple is expected to bring some new features like new interactive widgets, crash detection, new accessibility features, AR/VR capabilities, some new health-tracking features, and more.

New Macs Devices

Based on the previous reports, Apple is expected to announce new Macs on the stage today. The new Macbook Air with M2 chip is one of the highly anticipated laptops and along with that, the new-gen Mac mini, a 24-inch iMac and an affordable MacBook Pro to replace the old 13-inch model are also expected to launch. The new Macbook Air is said to come with a new and improved design, new colour options, and two USB Type-C ports. We are also expecting a Mac device with a Mini-LED display.

Everything Else

Apart from the aforementioned hardware and software updates, Apple is also expected to make some announcements about its apps. In addition, there will be updates around iPadOS, macOS, watchOS, and tvOS as well. The tech giant will reportedly introduce a set of new multitasking features with the iPadOS 16. That said, Apple’s rumoured mixed reality is unlikely to make its debut today.
