Xiaomi has announced the HyperOS in India after introducing it last year. The company has also revealed the release timeline for the new operating system, which will replace MIUI. Xiaomi’s latest operating system is built on five pillars – system-level optimisation, interconnectivity, active intelligence, privacy and security, and open platform. Here’s a look at the details.

HyperOS: Features

HyperOS is based on Xiaomi’s self-developed Vela system. Xiaomi is introducing an all-new MiSans font which supports over 600 languages and 20 writing systems. The company has also redesigned the Control Centre for better accessibility and has also introduced a new media player widget tile. Xiaomi has also redesigned system icons which the company claims are clearer than ever.

Xiaomi says with HyperOS, it has managed to reduce response delay by 14%, message delivery delay by 17%, and delay in task switching by 16%. The company also managed to decrease the system storage by around 3.3GB and the HyperOS system requires only 9.13GB system storage.

The new OS is focused on seamless connectivity between devices. It supports drag-and-drop between phone and tablet. Users can also copy and paste content between devices effortlessly with a shared clipboard. Xiaomi says that HyperMind in HyperOS can understand users’ requirements and enable surrounding devices to operate and collaborate based on their user habits.
