Why is the updated version of Android OS not available for this phone?
To make Android work on the hardware, device manufacturers (like Samsung, HTC or Lenovo in our case) must write Android device drivers specifically for their phones. These are often closed-source, so they can only be updated by the said manufacturer. Google can't just release a new version of Android that works on all devices; if they release the new version, then the manufacturers have to go in and tweak it for each of their phones. Hence, there is no latest update of OS on this phone till now. If you need updated OS all the time, please go to Google phones, i.e. Pixel or Nexus.

As the phone name says, it's "vibe" therefore the company has made some modifications in the OS. So there are very fewer chances of getting an update.

It already comes with Android 6.0, I am using it, and it's good. If you want the latest version of 7.0, then go for any other phone.

Because the company has not bought the latest version of Android, only the Marshmallow is available.

Which mobile is better between Lenovo Vibe K5 Note and K8 Note?
I am using K5 Note for the last one year; I didn't find any lag as far as the usage is the concern, even though, 60% of its storage space is consumed. The temperature is satisfactory while using it, even during gaming as well as watching the video. The battery with 100% charge lasts up to more than 30 hrs with moderate usage, regular phone calls, data usage and very less gaming. Overall, as such, I have no complaints about the phone, and it's satisfactory.

I prefer K8 Note because it's the latest one. K8 Note has a better camera and many pixels. Buy K8 Note, as it also has a 4000mAh battery.

Both are best in their way. But now K5 is a somewhat old version, so go for K8.

Performance is not good. Anytime phone gets switched off. Neither touch nor power button works to restart or do anything. Just black out. Infact once while trying to wakeup phone as directed by company person, phone went in factory settings mode. All data is washed away. Recovered only old phone data. Not reliable.

Regarding performance, it is a good deal. The brightness is ok. It has a hybrid SIM slot. You can't use microSD card and dual SIM feature at the same time. Overall, it is a value for money.

Very bad as I am using it for past 1 year. Mobile is much sensitive, prone to breakage, the display gets blurred after a single accidental drop.

K5 Note comes in 3GB as well as 4GB RAM version, whereas Neo comes in only 3GB RAM. Camera resolution difference is also there, but even though Neo offers less resolution than K5, the camera quality of Neo is also equally good to K5.

They differ in RAM speed. Playing games and multitasking works great. I have not updated my mobile. Still, it's working fine. You can go for Lenovo Vibe K5 or recently they have launched K6 in November.

Worth the money. From past 10 years I have been using mobile phones & not a single phone I used for more than 90 days. This is the first time I am using for the 4th month as its performance is excellent and currently I don't have any intention of changing it. Lenovo service centre is also good.
