Amazon Launches All-New Echo Show 11 And Fourth-Gen Echo Show 8 In India

Amazon is finally giving its smart display lineup the glow-up it has desperately needed. The company just launched the Echo Show 11 and the 4th Gen Echo Show 8 in India, and honestly, these feel less like a simple spec bump and more like a total rethink of what these devices are supposed to do.

If you have seen the older Echo Shows, you know they looked a bit… functional. Thick bezels, bulky plastic. These new ones are a different story. They have moved to edge-to-edge glass and much slimmer bezels. The Echo Show 11 gives you a massive 11-inch canvas (perfect for following recipes without squinting), while the Echo Show 8 bumps its screen up to 8.7 inches. They just look sharper and, frankly, more like premium tech you actually want on your counter.

The “Magic” Part: It Knows You're There

The real upgrade isn’t the screen, though – it's the brain. Both devices run on the new AZ3 Pro chip and use something Amazon calls Omnisense.

In plain English? The device is loaded with sensors (13MP camera, ultrasound, audio, temp, and even Wi-Fi sensing) that let it “read” the room. It's not just waiting for you to say “Alexa” anymore. It can turn on the lights when you walk in, pause your music if you leave the room, or adjust the fan based on the temperature – all without you saying a word. It feels like the smart home is finally becoming smart rather than just obedient.

Sound and Vision

For those of us who basically use these as kitchen TVs, the audio got a nice boost. They added a custom woofer and front-facing stereo speakers, so the bass actually exists now. Whether you are blasting a playlist while doing dishes or catching up on a show, it sounds significantly fuller. The 13MP camera also has auto-framing, which is a lifesaver for video calls, and the noise reduction is genuinely useful if your house is as loud as a typical Indian household.

The Weird Pricing Strategy

Here is where it gets interesting. The Echo Show 8 is priced at ₹23,999. The bigger, badder Echo Show 11 is ₹26,999.

That is a price difference of only ₹3,000.

If you have the counter space, the 11 is almost objectively the better buy here. You get way more screen and a more immersive experience for a relatively small bump in price. It feels like Amazon is gently nudging everyone toward the larger model.

Should You Buy It?

Both devices come in Graphite and Glacier White, and they are clearly built for the future – Amazon has already confirmed they are ready for Alexa+, the upcoming generative AI assistant.

If you are still holding onto an old Echo Show with those giant bezels, this is probably the generation worth upgrading for. It finally feels like the hardware is catching up to the promise of what an “ambient” smart home should be.
