AMD expands Ryzen AI 400 Series with new chips for desktops and laptops

At Mobile World Congress 2026 in Barcelona, AMD announced an expanded Ryzen AI PC lineup with the launch of the Ryzen AI 400 Series and Ryzen AI PRO 400 Series processors. The new chips are designed for next-generation AI PCs across desktops, commercial notebooks, and mobile workstations.

AMD says the Ryzen AI 400 Series is its first desktop processor family built specifically for AI-focused workloads. These processors combine Zen 5 CPU cores, RDNA 3.5 integrated graphics, and a dedicated XDNA 2 neural processing unit (NPU) delivering up to 50 TOPS of AI performance. This allows AI features and productivity tools to run locally on the PC, reducing reliance on cloud processing and keeping data on the device.

The Ryzen AI 400 Series desktop processors are expected to be available in AM5-based systems starting in the second quarter of 2026, with OEM partners including HP and Lenovo.

For business users, AMD also highlighted the Ryzen AI PRO 400 Series processors for commercial notebooks and mobile workstations. AMD claims its Ryzen AI 9 HX PRO 470 offers up to 30% faster multithreaded performance than Intel’s Core Ultra X7 3581, while maintaining all-day battery life in typical office use. These processors feature a more powerful NPU rated at up to 60 TOPS.

Commercial notebooks powered by Ryzen AI PRO 400 Series processors are expected to ship later in March, while mobile workstations are scheduled to arrive in the second quarter of 2026 from OEMs including Dell Technologies, HP, and Lenovo.
