Nothing brings its premium Android experience to an affordable package with the brand-new Phone 3a Lite. But has it cut corners on essential aspects to make room for affordability? To break it down, the new Nothing phone will be priced at 249 euros in the UK. This pricing positions it firmly in the affordable segment, alongside the CMF Phone 2 Pro.
So, what do you actually get for that price? Let’s start with the cameras. The Phone 3a Lite features a triple camera setup, which includes a 50-megapixel primary camera, an 8-megapixel ultrawide snapper, and a macro sensor.

On a side note, this camera system may appear less appealing compared to the one on the CMF Phone 2 Pro, Nothing’s other budget offering, owing to the absence of a telephoto camera. That being said, the Phone 3a Lite remains in the league of rare smartphones which offer camera versatility without stretching the budget. On the quality front, this camera array is said to capture balanced and accurate photographs. We are yet to test this claim, so stay tuned to MySmartPrice for an in-depth analysis of this captivating aspect.
Regarding performance, the MediaTek Dimensity 7300 Pro processor makes a comeback under the hood of the Phone 3a Lite. To provide some context, Nothing has a history of utilising this SoC in the CMF Phone 1 and the CMF Phone 2 Pro.

And, we have seen them delivering performance on par with the unwritten standard of the budget category. Rest assured that the Phone 3a Lite will be capable of handling everyday tasks without any hiccups. Additionally, it will be equipped with 8GB of RAM and up to 256GB of storage.
This new smartphone will run on Nothing OS 3.2 based on Android 15. Surprisingly, it maintains quite a clean user interface, contrary to expectations after Akis Evangelidis announced the introduction of pre-installed apps in future Nothing OS updates. It does come with Facebook, Instagram, and TikTok, but these are applications people regularly use in their daily lives.

Aside from this, the brand has sprinkled an additional feature called Lock Glimpse, which allows users to add wallpaper in ten different categories. Like other Nothing phones, it also boasts the Essential Key and its associated Essential Space feature. Speaking of the update policy, the Phone 3a Lite is promised to receive three years of software updates and six years of security patches. Although Samsung smartphones, such as the Galaxy A17, continue to dominate the category with six years of OS updates, Nothing’s commitment to long-term security support for value-conscious consumers is commendable.
From a design standpoint, the Phone 3a Lite will appear familiar, as it boasts the same retro-futuristic aesthetic found in other models, such as the Phone (3a) or the Phone 3. However, Nothing has skimped on the Glyph lights to keep the cost down, due to which it only houses a single LED on the rear. Fortunately, this new smartphone retains fan-favourite features like the Flip to Glyph for silent, light-only notifications, the Essential Notifications, which keep the light steady for important alerts, and the Camera Countdown.

Although the front and rear of the Phone 3a Lite are covered with glass, they are strengthened with Panda Glass Protection. To keep the phone durable over the years, the Phone 3a Lite’s internal structure is strengthened with aluminium. As an added peace of mind, it comes with the IP54 resistance against dust and water. While it isn’t a class-leading ingress protection compared to other smartphones in this category, such as the Realme P3 with its IP69 rating, it is a good-to-have feature.
The entertainment quotient on the Phone 3a Lite is managed by a 6.77-inch AMOLED display with a Full-HD+ resolution and a 120Hz refresh rate.
With the 5,000mAh battery on board, it promises hours of uninterrupted entertainment and reliable endurance for daily use. Talking about charging, it supports 33W of fast charging.
A Familiar Rivalry Within the Same Family
The prediction I made earlier in this article has indeed come true: the Phone 3a Lite will rival the CMF Phone 2 Pro. From a bird’s-eye perspective, it is almost a carbon copy of the latter on paper, whether it is the display, the processor, or the battery.
Where the Phone 3a Lite diverges from the CMF Phone 2 Pro are the design, the build quality, and the cameras. While the Phone 3a Lite features glass on both the front and back, the CMF Phone 2 Pro is made with polycarbonate material. As the Phone 3a Lite leans more towards Nothing’s iconic design language, the latter offers a sense of physical customisation with accessories that remain a unique feature to this day.

Although the two seem neck and neck in most areas, the CMF Phone 2 Pro gains a slight edge in the camera department thanks to its telephoto sensor. While the macro camera makes the Phone 3a Lite look versatile in the optics, it doesn’t have the wider appeal that the telephoto camera does. Nearly all Indians love taking portrait photos, which this camera’s hardware excels in. Only a handful of people enjoy capturing tiny details up close.
As a result, it will be interesting to see how Nothing positions the Phone 3a Lite in India, a market that values good design and capable cameras above all. While the CMF Phone 2 Pro may have a slight advantage in camera versatility, the Phone 3a Lite manages to strike a good balance between looks, performance, and overall user experience. It may not introduce anything groundbreaking, but it brings the familiar Nothing charm to a more affordable segment, which should appeal to value-conscious buyers.
