OnePlus 15R, OnePlus Pad Go 2 Launch In India Set for December 17: All You Need To Know

Mark your calendars for December 17. OnePlus just confirmed it’s bringing two big new devices to India: the OnePlus 15R and the second-gen OnePlus Pad Go 2. Just like with the main 15 series, you won’t have to wait to buy them – they go on sale right after the event. This is a clear signal that OnePlus is doubling down on that “mid-premium” sweet spot where its R-series phones and affordable tablets have always been hits.

OnePlus 15R Specifications

This feels different this year. Usually, the R-series is just a slightly tweaked version of the Chinese “Ace” phones. But rumours say the 15R might be based on the new Ace 6T. If true, that's huge because it would be rocking the Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 – skipping the “Elite” chip entirely. For us, that means the 15R isn’t just a “lite” version anymore; it’s getting dangerously close to the flagship power of the main 15 series.
Design-wise, it’s sticking with the family look, which is big circular camera bump is back. You’ll see it in Charcoal Black and Mint Breeze with a flat metal frame. But notice the back: only two cameras. The telephoto lens is likely gone. It looks like OnePlus is streamlining things to focus on making the main camera great rather than giving us a bunch of mediocre lenses we won’t use.
But here is where the 15R really shines: toughness. OnePlus confirmed that this device has IP66, IP68, IP69, and IP69K ratings. That is a lot of numbers, but it basically means it’s incredibly rugged against water, dust, and even high-pressure jets. If you’re tired of fragile glass phones that panic at the sight of rain, this is a very welcome change.
The specs are screaming “power user.” We’re expecting a crisp 6.7-inch 1.5K OLED screen with a super-fast 165Hz refresh rate, massive RAM (up to 16GB), and up to 1TB of storage. And the battery? Rumour has it at a whopping 8,000mAh (or more) with 100W charging. In a country where we all stress about battery life, that capacity alone could be the reason people buy this phone.

The Pad Go 2

It's not just about the phone, though. The OnePlus Pad Go 2 is coming, too. Available in Shadow Black and Lavender Drift, the big news here is 5G. The Shadow Black version will let you get online without Wi-Fi – a first for a OnePlus tablet. It’s also getting stylus support (with the new Pad Go 2 Stylo), which is great for students or anyone who likes to doodle. With decent RAM and storage, it’s clearly aimed at entertainment and casual work rather than pro-level multitasking.
So, you’ve got a choice coming up: high-performance value with the 15R or connected affordability with the Pad Go 2. It's cool to see OnePlus focusing on stuff that actually impacts our day – like insane battery life and real durability – instead of just chasing higher numbers on a spec sheet. If the price is right, these could be the upgrades many of us have been waiting for.
