Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra to feature a more refined design: Here’s what we know so far

It’s Samsung Galaxy S series time, and before the official announcements come in, leaks and rumours have already taken over the internet. The next Samsung top-end flagship, the Galaxy S26 Ultra, is expected to launch globally on January 25 in Samsung’s Galaxy Unpacked 2026 event. Pictures and renders of this device have surfaced on the internet, revealing a more refined and mature design this time. So, if you’re waiting for the new Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra, here’s what can be new on the Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra on the design front.

Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra Design Leaks

Early leaks around the Galaxy S26 Ultra indicate that Samsung is entering a phase of design consolidation rather than experimentation. The upcoming flagship appears to soften some of the sharper edges seen on previous Ultra models, with a flatter profile, more rounded corners, and a tidier rear camera arrangement. This shift suggests Samsung is less interested in making the Ultra look aggressive and more focused on making it feel refined, comfortable, and distinctly premium in day-to-day use. This is something that Samsung enthusiasts will probably appreciate.

Unlike its predecessor, the Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra looks more boxy and flat in the leaked pictures. It will also be lighter at 217 grams and thinner at 7.9 mm, according to leaks. What is currently standing out is not a single headline-grabbing design change, but the collective intent behind them. A thinner chassis, marginal weight reduction, and a more uniform camera module all point to Samsung polishing a formula it already believes in. The Ultra no longer needs to scream flagship. Instead, it seems designed to quietly assert it.

There is also a sense of visual alignment happening across Samsung's premium portfolio. The raised camera module, reminiscent of Samsung's recent foldables, hints at a more cohesive design language across form factors. If this direction holds true, the Galaxy S26 Ultra may feel less like an outlier and more like the definitive expression of Samsung's current design philosophy.

Leaks also suggest that the Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra can be launched in six colours: Black, White, Sky Blue, Cobalt Violet, Silver Shadow, and Pink Gold. However, the first four colours are standard options, while Silver Shadow and Pink Gold are Samsung's online-exclusive colours. In that context, the expected colour palette, especially the restrained core colours with select online-exclusive finishes, further reinforces the idea of a flagship that is grown-up rather than flashy. The Galaxy S26 Ultra, at least from what leaks suggest so far, looks like a device shaped by confidence, not course correction.

Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra Specifications (Expected)

The Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra can come with a 6.9-inch 2K LTPO AMOLED panel with 120 Hz refresh rate support. This display is also rumoured to come with a new privacy feature that will go dark from the side, but totally normal for the person who’s looking straight at it.

Furthermore, the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 is likely to power the Galaxy S26 Ultra. Samsung can offer a 7-year software support with the device running on OneUI 8 out of the box.

For photography, it is said to come with a 200-megapixel main camera, a 50-megapixel ultrawide lens, a 50-megapixel periscope sensor with up to 5x optical zoom, and a 12-megapixel telephoto sensor with 3x optical zoom.

And lastly, it will house a 5000 mAh battery with 65-watt fast charging support, according to the leaks.
