Apple iPhone 17 Plus to Feature a Smaller Display

Macrumors reports, quoting the source, that Apple will equip the smartphone with a smaller display than the current iPhone 15 Plus. The tipster has yet to reveal the exact display size for the upcoming iPhone 17 Plus smartphone.

Apple launched the iPhone 15 Plus and iPhone 15 Pro Max smartphones in 2023 with a 6.7-inch Super Retina XDR OLED panel. We can expect Apple to debut the iPhone 17 Plus with a display size smaller than the 6.7-inch panel on the iPhone 15 Plus.

The difference between the current generation Plus and Max models is the lack of a ProMotion 120Hz display on the iPhone 15 Plus. Apple is rumoured to equip the iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max with 6.3-inch and 6.9-inch displays. The iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus will continue to sport a 6.1-inch and 6.7-inch display, respectively.

The vanilla iPhone 16 series smartphones will not sport the ProMotion display with 120Hz refresh rate and LTPO tech. The iPhone 17 and iPhone 17 Plus will be the first non-Pro models to sport LTPO panels with a 120Hz refresh rate. Apple is expected to source the LTPO panel from BOE for the upcoming smartphones.

The iPhone 17 series is also tipped to sport a 24MP selfie camera, which will be a substantial upgrade over the current generation’s 12MP sensor. According to Ming-Chi Kuo, a renowned and reliable industry analyst, the development of the iPhone 17 is expected to begin in India.
