A new MacBook Air powered by the M3 processor, new iPad Air, and a refreshed iPad Pro are expected to launch around March 2024. According to Mark Gurman of Bloomberg, Apple is experiencing a decline in Mac and iPad sales and to reverse the situation. Apple is said to be working on new MacBooks and iPads alongside macOS 14.3, which is scheduled to roll out around the same time.

The report reveals that Apple will refresh both 13-inch and 15-inch MacBook Air along with two sizes of iPad Air for the first time and OLED iPad Pro. Let’s take a look at what to expect from Apple next year.

Apple Tipped to Launch New iPads and M3 MacBook Air Next Year

Apple refreshed its MacBook Pro lineup with its latest flagship processors called M3, M3 Pro, and M3 Max in October. Prior to that, the company launched the 15-inch M2 MacBook Air, which offered a bigger display, more speakers, and better battery with everything else remaining the same as the 13-inch M2 MacBook Air.

As Apple has already overhauled the design of the MacBook Air in 2022 followed by the launch of the larger model in 2023, no design change is expected for newer models but the focus will now be on hardware improvement.

Right on cue, Gurman has reported quoting sources close to the matter that Apple might launch an M3 MacBook Air early next year. This comes as a logical step for the Cupertino-based brand after launching the M3 series MacBook Pro this year. According to the Bloomberg report, Apple will launch both 13- and 15-inch variants with the latest and greatest M3 silicon around March 2024.

The M3 series of chipsets was announced at Apple’s Scary Fast event in October this year. They are built using a 3-nanometer process and comprise a next-generation GPU that represents the biggest leap forward in graphics architecture ever for Apple silicon. These chipsets also bring bleeding-edge features to Macs like hardware-accelerated ray tracing and mesh shading for the first time. Apple also claims that the performance and efficiency cores on the M3 processor are 30% and 50% faster than the M1 chipset respectively.

The Bloomberg report also claims that Apple will refresh the iPad Air and iPad Pro models around the same time. Apple is tipped to launch two screen sizes for iPad Air for the first time. On the other hand, the iPad Pro model will get upgraded to an OLED display panel. We will get to know more in the coming days.
