Apple has announced opening a new office in Bengaluru, marking another step in its expansion in India. The 15-storey building at Minsk Square can accommodate up to 1,200 employees and is set to become a hub for various Apple business activities.

Situated in the middle of the city near Vidhana Soudha, the high court, and Chinnaswamy Cricket Stadium, the office offers easy public transport access, particularly the Cubbon Park metro station.

The Bengaluru office will focus on software, hardware, services, information systems and technology (IS&T), operations, and customer support. The facility features designated workspaces, collaboration areas, and wellness amenities for employees.

“Apple is pleased to extend its footprint in India with the establishment of our new office in the heart of Bengaluru. This dynamic city is already a home to many of our talented teams, covering areas such as software engineering, hardware technologies, operations, customer support, and more. In line with Apple’s core values, this workspace is crafted to encourage innovation, creativity, and collaboration. It offers an exceptional setting for our teams to work together,” stated a company spokesperson on Wednesday.

Apple also emphasises that the office will run entirely on renewable energy, utilising locally sourced materials such as stone, wood, and fabric for construction. Native plants are also integrated into the facility’s design.

This move follows Apple’s existing facilities in Gurugram, Hyderabad, and Mumbai. With around 3,000 employees in India, the new office aims to support the company’s growing footprint in the country.

Apple’s iPhone Manufacturing in India and Future Plans

Recently, tech analyst Ming-Chi Kuo revealed Apple’s future iPhone plans. According to him, Apple is looking to double the production of made-in-India iPhones. Currently, about 12-14% of iPhones globally come from India, and the Cupertino Giant aims to boost that to 20-25% by 2024.

Kuo also mentioned that iPhone 17 production is set to kick off in India in the latter part of 2024. If all goes well, it’ll be the first time Apple develops a new iPhone model outside of China. The iPhone 17 is expected to hit the market in the second half of 2025.

In order to achieve this goal, all the iPhone manufacturers are expanding their production capacity in the country. Recently, Foxconn made an announcement of investing $1.6 billion in India. Besides, Tata Group also acquired Wistron’s iPhone assembly setup in India for about USD 125 million.
