Update: After the ROG Phone 8 Pro, the ASUS ROG Phone 8 also has received the NBTC certification. The listing reveals the model number of the device as AI2401_C. Furthermore, the certification also confirms the moniker as ASUS ROG Phone 8.

ASUS is prepping up for the launch of the ASUS ROG Phone 8 series for next month. The lineup is set to launch in China first on January 16. Ahead of the official launch, we have been learning new details about the ROG Phone 8 lineup courtesy of several leaks. Recently, the ASUS ROG Phone 8/8 Pro was spotted on the Geekbench website and Wi-Fi Alliance certification. The Geekbench listing confirmed the key hardware specifications of the smartphones. Now, in a recent development, the ASUS ROG Phone 8 Pro has received the NBTC certification ahead of its next month’s launch.

ASUS ROG Phone 8 Pro Will Offer 5G Support
The NBTC certification reveals the moniker as ASUS ROG Phone 8 Pro. The same moniker details were confirmed by the Bluetooth SIG certification a couple of days back. Furthermore, the NBTC certification also reveals the model number of the device as AI2401_D. The listing further also discloses that the device will have 2G, 3G, 4G, and 5G connectivity support. Besides, the model number, moniker, and connectivity details, no other specifications of the handset is revealed from the NBTC certification.
The previous leaks suggest that the ASUS ROG Phone 8 Pro will feature a 6.78-inch AMOLED display with a Full HD+ resolution and a 120Hz refresh rate. Under the hood, the device will be powered by Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 SoC as revealed by the Geekbench listing earlier. The smartphone is expected to launch in 16GB/24GB of RAM configuration along with 512 GB/1TB of internal storage. As for the software, we can expect the device to boot Android 14 out of the box.
Moving onto the imaging department, the handset is likely to feature a triple-camera setup. The camera module might comprise of a 50MP main camera (Sony IMX890 sensor), a 13MP ultra-wide camera, and a 32MP telephoto lens. On the front side, the smartphone might sport a 32MP camera. Last but not least, the smartphone is also confirmed to offer an IP68 rating for water and dust resistance.
