Epic Games Store, the popular video game distribution store, is soon expanding its services to iOS and Android smartphones in addition to devices running on Windows and macOS. Epic Games has confirmed the news on X (formerly Twitter) about its plans to expand to smartphones.
Epic Games Store to Expand to iOS and Android
Epic Games has revealed that the Epic Games Store will arrive later this year on iOS and Android-running devices. The popular video game distributor hasn’t revealed the exact launch timeline of the app store. The US giant hasn’t revealed the games that will be available on mobile platforms.

The teaser shared by the brand confirms that all the developers will be greeted with the same fair terms, including the same revenue split for Android developers in comparison to PC developers. Epic Games will take a 12% cut on the game’s revenue, while the developer will earn 88% of their revenue.
The introduction of the store for iOS devices is possible after the rollout of the iOS 17.4 update. The European Union had previously asked the Cupertino giant to introduce support for third-party app stores. However, support for third-party app stores is still limited to the European region.
Unless Apple brings support for third-party app stores to other regions, the Epic Game Store on iOS won’t be accessible to people living outside the EU region. The popular video game distributor previously confirmed that Fortnite will return to iOS with the Epic Games Store on iOS. Fortnite was removed from the App Store in 2020 owing to the guidelines violated by the giant US video game company. To recall, the game is also not available on the Google Play Store but can be downloaded via the Epic Games app.
