PlayStation Studios has just confirmed that one of this year’s biggest releases, God of War Ragnarok, will be coming out on 9 November 2022. This was announced alongside a new CGI cinematic trailer that shows the pair, Kratos and Atreus, battling a swarm of enemies.

The CGI trailer is not representative of gameplay, but amid rumours of delays, the release date announcement has to be a welcome sight for fans looking forward to the game. It has been confirmed that the pair will be travelling to new realms in the upcoming game and it will be interesting to see what sort of new enemy types will be present in Ragnarok.

Santa Monica Studios has also released a new unboxing video for God of War Ragnarok – Collectors Edition, which includes a massive 16″ replica of Thor’s Hammer – Mjolnir.

God of War Ragnarok Collectors Edition and Release Date Revealed

The Collectors Edition unboxing video features actor Ryan Hurst, who will be playing Thor in God of War Ragnarok. The actor is best known for his work on the hit TV series Sons of Anarchy as Opie Winston. Thor will likely be one of the newer primary antagonists in the game, alongside Odin, who will be played by Richard Schiff of “The West Wing” fame.

The game most likely takes place sometime after the events of God of War (2018) with Atreus having grown quite a bit since the last time we saw him. The last trailer revealed bits of gameplay, including new traversal mechanics attached to the Blades of Chaos.

The game is easily one of the most highly-anticipated titles from PlayStation Studios and was announced way back during the PS5 Reveal Event in 2020. The game is a follow-up to 2018’s God of War and will be the final chapter in the Norse Saga of the franchise.
