Following the footsteps of Oppo and Vivo, Honor decided to impress everyone with its flagship smartphone. Honor Magic 2 was, undoubtedly, one of the interesting smartphones we’ve seen in the IFA 2018 at Berlin. The key highlight of this device is its camera sliding mechanism making it able to sport higher screen-to-body ratio. Honor Magic 2 was previously teased giving us the official launch date i.e. October 31 for the Chinese market.

We now have more details about the smartphone in terms of design and key features thanks to the latest exposure of the Honor Magic 2. The Honor Magic 2 will fall under the high-end premium segment creating an intense competition in the mobile industry.

Honor Magic 2 is not any ordinary flagship device

To recall, Huawei sub-brand Honor has already unveiled the smartphone but not in its full glory. There are still tons of things which the brand kept hidden from us for the official launch. We’re already aware of the fact that the Honor Magic 2 will feature a camera sliding mechanism similar to Oppo Find X and Vivo Nex. Although, Vivo went with a different approach by implementing a popup camera instead of sliding one layer of the smartphone.

With Magic 2, the rear part of the device will slide revealing the front-facing camera. Thanks to this sliding mechanism, the Chinese manufacturer is able to minimize the top bezels. Honor Magic 2 will be the first smartphone to come with a near 100% screen-to-body-ratio which is just impressive.

The thing which will make this device stand out from the rest of the flagship offerings is its design. As per the renders obtained by Quansong Technology, Honor adapts a comprehensive screen solution. The front frame of this upcoming smartphone is quite narrow. The structural design of this device seems technically correct. Coming to the back, we’ll see a glass material with 15 layers of protections. The back part of this device looks stunning with the glass’s curvature being modified for good. Overall, We will see a new design approach and a few more square elements in the body.

Honor Magic 2 will feature a Kirin 980 chipset, far more powerful than competitors

The next amazing offering from the Honor Magic 2 is the processor. The device runs on the flagship Kirin 980 chipset which is fabricated over the 7nm processor. With this processor, the device will be able to beat others running on Qualcomm Snapdragon 845. Even though it is the 7nm chipset, it was unable to beat the Apple’s A12 Bionic chip. For the actual results, we will have to wait for the official launch of the device.

Considering some previous leaks, Honor Magic 2 will sport a 6-inch AMOLED display with negligible bezels and 1440×2880 pixels resolution. In terms of storage, the device will feature a 6GB RAM with the combination of either 64GB or 256GB onboard storage. Speaking of optics, Honor Magic 2 has a dual 20-MP camera setup at the back and a single 16-MP selfie shooter on the front. Other specifications include an in-display fingerprint sensor and super fast charging capabilities.

The official launch is not that far and we can still expect more teasers, leaks, and information to come forward. What’s your take on the Honor Magic 2?
