Instagram is considering making a major change with the online image and video sharing platform and this is going to change the feature of sharing feed images to Instagram Stories. Yes! You read it correctly, according to a report from Social Media Today the company is reportedly removing the feature which used to allow users to share the post from the feed to stories as a part of the new test. The report claims that the company has announced the change via a notification banner which was sent to users from selected countries. Here’s a closer look at the removal of the Instagram feature.

Instagram Removing Feed Post Sharing Feature to Stories

“We hear from our community that they want to see fewer posts in Stories,” the notification starts. “During this test, you won’t be able to add a feed post to your Story.” Facebook-owned photo-sharing platform allows users to share their friends’ feed on their story posts, this was used by any user to promote their friends’ account and pages because compared to feed stories have a bigger reach to the Instagram audience.

As per the report, the company claims that some users are not happy watching the same content from the feed shared in stories. This is very annoying for many artists, businesses, and organizations who use this feature to get and give favours to their friends and family. Taking away this feature will also take away the option for the users to promote their work or someone whom they want to promote.

“We hear from our community that they want to see fewer posts in Stories. During this test, you won’t be able to add a feed post to your Story.” the report quoted the company.

Also do note that the company is showing the notification banner to only those users who have been chosen to take part in this test. Further, the report also confirmed that Instagram is conducting this test in some selected regions. The company has also confirmed to Social Media Today that, “there is no plan to roll this change out more broadly at this stage.”
