Instagram is working on improving its Stories feature with the ability to share another user’s profile. Currently, users can add links to mention the user handle of the profile they want to share. With the new feature, users will be able to share profiles directly to Instagram Stories. Popular tipster and app developer Alessandro Paluzzi has shared a screenshot of the upcoming feature. It’s about to get a whole lot easier to give shoutouts to your favourite content creator, friends and family, or an alternative account on Instagram. According to Paluzzi, the Meta-owned content-sharing platform is working on a new way to share profiles in Instagram Stories. The new feature is designed to polish the overall interface when sharing profiles in Stories and make the whole process quite easy.
The new feature will show a snapshot of the profile being shared in the Instagram Story. The feature will display the Instagram profile name, bio, and the first three posts of the profile being shared. This will give the audience of the user a fair idea about what the profile being shared is all about and what kind of content is shared on the profile.
The snapshot will also feature a View Profile button, making it easier for the audience members to visit and follow the profile. The new feature is intended to boost discovery, engagement, and brand exposure on the platform. This will help various influencers and creators to collaborate and give the spotlight to each other.
The new feature will particularly be beneficial to small businesses operating on Instagram and help draw in potential customers. It’s not known how the feature will work. But we can expect the Mention sticker in Instagram Stories to display a profile like this or a dedicated Add to Story button on the profile.
There’s no word on when the new feature will rollout but we can expect it to arrive in early 2024.
