The star of the lineup will be the iPhone 15 Pro Max, according to the new leak. Apple is likely to introduce an exclusive feature for the iPhone 15 Pro Max’s camera.
According to a new leak, the top-of-the-line iPhone will get a new telephoto camera. The currently-available iPhone 14 Pro Max does have a telephoto camera. However, it offers only up to 3x optical zoom. With the upcoming high-end model, Apple is likely to offer a new periscope camera with a higher zoom range. Let’s take a look at the iPhone 15 Pro Max specifications, features and other details leaked so far.
iPhone 15 Pro Max Camera Might Zoom Better
According to the latest leak, Apple’s upcoming iPhone 15 Pro Max will get some major upgrades in the camera department. The upcoming top-of-the-line iPhone is rumoured to get a new periscope lens on the back. It will replace the currently available 3x optical zoom telephoto camera lens which is found in the iPhone 14 Pro Max. The piece of information comes from Tipster Unknownz21, who further stated that the camera upgrade will be exclusive to the Pro Max model. This means that the iPhone 15 Pro will continue to offer 3x optical zoom using the telephoto camera. The new leak corroborates a recent report, which claimed that the 15 Pro Max’s periscope lens will offer up to 6x optical zoom support.
While this certainly will be an upgrade over the iPhone 14 Pro Max’s zoom range, Apple will still lag behind the Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra which offers up to 10x optical zoom.
Apple is also said to use a new Sony IMX903 sensor in the upcoming iPhone 15 Pro models this year. The new Sony IMX903 48MP sensor has a 1/1.14-inch sensor size, which could potentially help capture more light and details. In comparison, the Sony IMX803 sensor found in the iPhone 14 Pro is 1/1.28 inches in size. The camera setup is likely to offer a 12MP ultra-wide sensor as well.
Some other details about the upcoming 15 Pro models have leaked as well. The company is tipped to use titanium materials for the chassis of the Pro models. Apple is also likely to replace the Mute switch with a button, which is likely to be programmable for multiple tasks like the Action Button in Apple Watch Ultra.
Design renders of the iPhone 15 Pro models have leaked as well. The new design renders show the new mute button. Apple was rumoured to replace the physical buttons with solid-state buttons. However, owing to technical issues, the company has reportedly postponed the change and reserved it for the next year’s Pro models.
There will be a USB Type-C port at the bottom. The iPhone 15 Pro Max will continue to sport a 6.7-inch OLED display with ProMotion support for up to 120Hz. Under the hood, there will be the new A17 Bionic SoC. Other details about the upcoming iPhone 15 series are expected to be available soon.
