Lava has teased the launch of a new 5G smartphone in India the Lava Agni 2 set to take place in the coming weeks. Lava is yet to confirm the launch date of its upcoming 5G smartphone. Ahead of the launch, some key details about the Agni 2 have been teased online. Lava’s upcoming mid-range smartphone will feature a MediaTek Dimensity 7050 SoC under the hood.

The piece of information was revealed soon after MediaTek unveiled the Dimensity 7050 SoC earlier today. Let’s take a look at the Lava Agni 2 specifications, features, and other details known so far.

Lava Agni 2 5G: What We Know So Far

The Lava Agni 2 coming later this month will feature a MediaTek Dimensity 7050 SoC. The SoC has a peak clock speed of 2.6GHz. It has two Cortex A78 cores and six Cortex A55 cores that are clocked at 2.0GHz. Taking care of the graphics performance is the Mali-G68 GPU. The 6nm chipset offers support for a 200MP triple-camera setup, dual 5G with VONR, 120Hz Full HD+ display, Wi-Fi 6, etc.

If the specs of the Dimensity 7050 SoC sound familiar, then you are right. The Dimensity 7050 SoC is essentially a rebadged version of the Dimensity 1080 SoC, which was announced last year. MediaTek has officially confirmed the Dimensity 7050 SoC. The rebranding must have taken place in order to streamline the SoC’s performance with other SoCs in the lineup.

The same SoC will be a part of the upcoming Realme 11 Pro Plus 5G, which is set to launch in China on May 10.

It is quite an upgrade for the Agni 2 as the original model came with a Dimensity 810 SoC. The Dimensity 7050 SoC, aka the Dimensity 1080 SoC, offers some good boost in both CPU and GPU performance. The phone was also spotted on Geekbench, running Android 13 out of the box. It was listed with 8GB of RAM as well. We can expect Lava to launch a lower RAM and storage option as well. The phone is likely to offer 128GB of storage for the top model. There will be support for a microSD card as well.

At the moment, other details about the phone are unknown. A recent leak revealed that the phone is could feature a 120Hz AMOLED display. The Agni 5G came with a 90Hz IPS LCD. Therefore, if the leaked details are true, the phone is certainly getting a good upgrade in the display department.

However, the upgrades will attract a higher price. According to the leak, the Agni 2 will be priced under Rs 25,000. In comparison, the Agni 5G was launched for under Rs 20,000 in India. Lava has not confirmed any details about the same. We will share more information as and when available.
