Masala Games, an Indian game studio, has announced Detective Dotson for PC gamers. Players can wishlist the game on Steam, and a playable Demo is readily available on Valve’s platform.

Detective Doston is an upcoming Indie game that blends action, adventure, and classic detective work into a unique experience set against the backdrop of modern India.

The plot revolves around the character Dotson, who aspires to be a Bollywood star. However, his life takes a dramatic turn when his detective father is mysteriously killed. This forces Dotson to step into his father’s shoes and solve the case himself.

The developers also released a gameplay trailer which hints at the various tasks players undertake throughout the game, such as pursuing criminals, uncovering clues, crafting disguises to infiltrate enemy ranks, spying on foes, and enlisting teammates to aid in your investigation.

The playable demo of Detective Dotson, which is currently live, is built on the Unity engine and features controller support alongside an original soundtrack co-created by Nikhil Rao of Indian Ocean.

What truly sets Detective Dotson apart from other detective games is its deep Indian influence.

According to the developers, the game is “inspired by Bollywood and Indian TV shows like CID, and it is complete with a unique narrative.” This means you can expect a game brimming with the action, drama, and cultural flair you know and love.

The full game, promising even more content with additional episodes, is set to arrive sometime in the third quarter of 2024.

Another highlight of this game is its wide compatibility. The minimum requirements are Windows 10 (or macOS Sierra), an Intel Core i3-3240 or AMD FX-4300 processor, 8GB of RAM, and a graphics card like the Radeon HD 7750 or GeForce GT 640. Linux users need Ubuntu 20.04 or later. The game only takes up 1GB of storage space, making it easy to install on most machines.

Before its full release later this year, Detective Dotson will appear at the Courage XL pre-GDC event on March 17th, starting at 9 p.m. PST.

GDC attendees can also get their hands on the game and vie for a chance to win a Nintendo Switch at the Masala Games booth, located at SU2 (right across from Alt. Ctrl. GDC) in the expo’s startup area, from March 20th to 22nd.
