MediaTek Dimensity 1200 Tipped to Beat the Snapdragon 865, Expected to Debut on Redmi K40 Series

MediaTek is working on a new mobile processor under the Dimensity lineup. The new SoC, Dimensity 1200, will launch on 20th January in China. Ahead of the launch, the famous leakster Digital Chat Station has revealed some information about the upcoming Dimensity processor. As per the recent leak, the Dimensity 1200 will beat the Qualcomm Snapdragon 865, the last-gen flagship SoC. Redmi Vice President, Lu Weibing has talked about the Dimensity 1200 on his Weibo account, and there are chances that one model in the upcoming Redmi K40 series might be powered by the Dimensity 1200 mobile platform.

Digital Chat Station claims to have seen the specifications of the upcoming Dimensity SoC. He reveals that the upcoming Dimensity mobile processor will have more clock speed than the Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 chipset. Additionally, the tipster claims that the upcoming Dimensity 1200 will offer overall better performance compared to Qualcomm’s last-gen flagship Snapdragon 865 mobile processor.

Similar to every other Dimensity processor, the upcoming Dimensity 1200 will offer 5G connectivity. It is said to be built on a 6nm fabrication process, the first from MediaTek. The upcoming Dimensity processor will also have upgraded ISP for better camera performance.

Dimensity 1200 might debut on a Redmi K40 series device!

Ahead of the Dimensity 1200 announcement, Lu Weibing, Vice President, Redmi has also talked about the upcoming Dimensity mobile processor. He also said that the Redmi K30 Ultra, powered by Dimensity 1000+, is extremely popular in the country. There are speculations that the upcoming MediaTek processor might debut on one of the Redmi K40 series smartphones. To those unaware, Redmi has already confirmed that it will launch Redmi K40 series in China next month.

Redmi has also confirmed that the upcoming Redmi K40 series smartphone will be powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 SoC, which should be the Pro variant, i.e. Redmi K40 Pro.
