ASUS 6Z (Zenfone 6) India Launch Set for June 19, Features 48MP Flip Camera and Snapdragon 855

The ASUS ZenFone 6 with a controllable motorized camera was launched at an event in Valencia, Spain last month. A report that surfaced online last week had claimed the smartphone could be launched in India on June 16. Now, however, a dedicated landing page for the smartphone on Flipkart has confirmed that the India launch will actually take place on June 19. However, the ASUS flagship smartphone will not be arriving as the ZenFone 6 in the Indian market.

ASUS 6z Set to Launch in India on June 19

As many of you might be aware, the Delhi High Court recently issued an order that bars ASUS from selling smartphone using the ZenFone branding. However, ASUS is working with the Delhi High Court to resolve the Zen Mobiles and ZenFone trademark lawsuit. Until the matter is resolved, ASUS will not able to launch any new smartphone with the ZenFone branding on it. This is the reason why the Taiwanese PC hardware and smartphone maker has decided to go ahead and launch the ZenFone 6 in India as ASUS 6z instead.

Now that the launch date has been confirmed by Flipkart, we can expect the company to start sending out invites for the launch event very soon. The ASUS 6z is expected to take on other relatively affordable flagship smartphones such as the OnePlus 7 Pro and the Samsung Galaxy S10e once it goes on sale in India. Last year, the Taiwanese brand had launched the ZenFone 5z in India at INR 29,999. Thanks to many significant upgrades, we can expect the ASUS 6z to be launched at a significantly higher price point. In Europe, the ZenFone 6 starts at EUR 499 (INR 39,300 approx.) for the 6GB RAM + 64GB storage variant.

ASUS 6z Could Give a Tough Fight to the OnePlus 7 Pro in India

The latest ASUS flagship smartphone comes with a notch-less 6.46-inch NanoEdge IPS LCD display with Full HD+ resolution and HDR10 support. It runs on a Snapdragon 855 octa-core mobile chipset with an Adreno 640 GPU and up to 8GB LPDDR4x RAM. In terms of storage, the smartphone is available with up to 256GB UFS 2.1 storage.

One of the key highlights of the ASUS 6z is its 48MP + 13MP flip camera module, which eliminates the need for a separate front-facing camera. The dual-camera setup uses a 48MP Sony IMX586 primary sensor with a Quad Bayer filter and a 13MP ultra-wide angle camera with 125-degree field-of-view. The smartphone should be able to impress power users with its large 5000mAh battery and QuickCharge 4.0 fast charging support. In terms of software, the ASUS 6z will launch in India with the company’s ZenUI 6 based on Android Pie. Provided the smartphone is priced competitively, it certainly has the potential to lure many consumers away from the OnePlus 7 Pro.
