The Google Pixel 8 Pro was recently tested by DxOMark for its display and capabilities. The tests showed that the Pixel 8 Series has the best display on a smartphone, with its colour accuracy and outdoor visibility. The device also managed to match the audio performance ratings of the iPhone 15 Pro.

DxOMark has now published the results of the camera performance of the Google Pixel 8 Pro. The triple rear camera setup on the Pixel 8 Pro has delivered impressive scores, making it the highest-rated camera on an Android flagship.

Google Pixel 8 Pro Camera Performance Rated by DxOMark

The Google Pixel 8 Pro has received a rating of 153 points in the camera leaderboards of DxOMark. It is just behind the iPhone 15 Pro Max, which scored 154 points. The top spot is currently held by the Huawei P60 Pro with 156 points.

The Huawei P60 Pro does have a higher DxOMark score than the latest Pixel, but it doesn’t really run on AOSP. The P60 Pro is also exclusive to China, which means that the globally available Google Pixel 8 Pro is practically the best camera phone among Androids, as per DxOMark ratings.

The triple cameras on the Pixel 8 Pro features a 50MP primary sensor with OIS, a secondary 48MP telephoto lens with OIS capable of 5X optical zoom, and a 48MP ultrawide lens. Along with strong optics, the Pixel 8 Pro also utilizes the Tensor G3 to implement AI enhancements in its camera results.

DxOMark reports that the colour reproduction in the images shot with the Pixel 8 Pro is excellent. The device is able to maintain natural skin tones consistently with almost no shutter lag. There was no major motion blur while shooting images of fast-moving objects.

Images also retain good amounts of detail, on both the regular camera and the telephoto lens. In indoor lighting conditions, the Pixel has fared better than the Huawei flagship when it comes to colour accuracy.

The Pixel 8 Pro has also impressed with its autofocus capabilities. The device is able to differentiate the subject from the background quickly. Even for fast-moving subjects, the device can lock its focus accurately.

In low light conditions, the Pixel 8 Pro can grab colours even from dark regions, while adjusting the exposure to natural levels. However, DxOMark says that images shot during the night contain slightly more noise, as compared to other devices in the segment. The report further adds that the Huawei P60 and iPhone 15 Pro were more consistent in low-light conditions than the Pixel.

DxOMark also reports that the Pixel 8 Pro is one of the top devices for video recording. The device was able to produce excellent results in both SDR and HDR videos. However, the report states that the Pixel 8 Pro still has a lot to catch up with the iPhone 15 Pro Max in videos.

Overall, the Pixel 8 Pro has shined through the DxOMark tests, making itself the best globally available Android smartphone in terms of camera performance. With Google’s magical post-processing aided by the Tensor G3, the Pixel 8 Pro is a good choice for users if you are looking for a super consistent camera.
