Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra, S25 Ultra, and S26 Ultra Tipped to Feature 200MP Cameras, S27 Ultra to Come With a 1/1.12-Inch Lens

Samsung will reportedly stick with 200MP cameras on its flagships for the next few years.

  • Samsung seems to have no plans to update the camera on its flagship Samsung Galaxy S Ultra lineup for the next few years.
  • According to the latest leak, the Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra, S25 Ultra, and S26 Ultra will come with 200MP cameras.
  • The Galaxy S27 Ultra will reportedly flaunt a 1/1.12-inch primary sensor.

Samsung 200MP cameras will feature in the next three generations of the Galaxy S Ultra series. The latest leak comes from the Twitter tipster @Revegnus, who revealed the Samsung Galaxy S Ultra series camera roadmap in their latest tweet. According to the leak, the Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra will retain the same primary camera as the Galaxy S23 Ultra. On the other hand, the Galaxy S25 Ultra and S26 Ultra will feature a new and improved 200MP sensor, whereas the Galaxy S27 Ultra will feature the 1/1.12-inch ISOCELL GN2 lens. Read on ahead to know more.

Samsung Might Use 200MP Sensors on the Next Three Generations of Galaxy S Ultra

As you can see in the tweet above, @Revegnus has revealed the main camera details of the next four generations of the Galaxy S Ultra series flagships. If the tipster is to be believed, the upcoming Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra will use the 200MP Samsung ISOCELL HP sensor as its primary camera. Notably, this is the same image sensor that debuted on the Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra back in February 2023. While the sensor will remain the same, the chaebol (South Korean conglomerate) might add software optimisations to improve the camera performance.

Coming to the Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra and Galaxy S26 Ultra, tipster reveals that they will feature the successor of the ISOCELL HP2 sensor. However, the camera lens will retain the 200MP resolution. The tipster reveals that the next-generation sensor will feature an enhanced light receiver, presumably for low-light imaging and advanced imaging technologies such as nanophotonics. Moreover, according to the tipster, it would be a sensor built on a 17nm process node, a world first.

Lastly, the tipster claims that the Galaxy S27 Ultra will be the one to break away from the series of 200MP sensors. According to the tipster, the Galaxy S27 Ultra might come with a slightly larger 1/1.12-inch sensor, slightly larger than the 1/1.3-inch HP2 sensor. While the tipster didn’t reveal any further details about the sensor, we can assume it is an upgraded version of the 1/1.12-inch Samsung ISOCEL GN2 sensor used in the Xiaomi Mi 11 Ultra.

Unlike its competitors, Samsung is the only brand that has not yet hopped on to the 1-inch, 50MP camera sensor bandwagon. Is this the right move from the South Korean brand? Let us know in the comments section below.
