Motorola recently unveiled their latest entry-level handset – the Moto G04 in India. The Moto G04 is aimed at first-time smartphone buyers and comes with an affordable price tag. The Moto G04 is a much more attractive product out of the three, given the starting price of Rs 6,999.
The Moto G04 and Infinix Smart 8 feature a centred punch-hole notch display. Whereas, the Redmi A3 packs a waterdrop notch display. The Moto G04 has a polycarbonate rear panel with matte texture. The Infinix Smart 8 also appears to have a polycarbonate back panel. The Redmi A3 comes in vegan leather and glass rear panels which some might prefer over polycarbonate.
The Moto G04 comes in four colour options – Sunrise Orange, Satin Blue, Sea Green, and Concord Black. The Redmi A3 can be bought in Olive Green, Lake Blue, or Midnight Black colour options. Whereas, Infinix Smart 8 is available in four colour options – Galaxy White, Shiny Gold, Rainbow Blue, and Timber Black.
The Moto G04 seem to have an edge over the Redmi A3 and Infinix Smart 8 in terms of design as it offers a centred punch-hole notch display and comes in vibrant colour schemes. Also, the Moto G04 appears to have a better overall rear panel design.

The Moto G04 flaunts a 6.6-inch IPS LCD screen with a 90Hz refresh rate. The Redmi A3 sports a 6.71-inch LCD screen with a 90Hz refresh rate. The Redmi A3 features a waterdrop notch display which some may not prefer. However, it tries making up for the notch with the Corning Gorilla Glass 3 layer which isn’t found in competing devices.
The Infinix Smart 8 also goes for a 6.6-inch 90Hz display but the differentiating factor is the Magic Ring feature, which is an implementation similar to that of Apple’s Dynamic Island. Getting this on a budget phone can be liked by many.

The Moto G04 sports a UniSoC T606 SoC, which brings with it an integrated Mali G57 GPU. The Redmi A3 and the Infinix Smart 8 are powered by MediaTek Helio G36 processor that comes coupled with an IMG PowerVR GE8320 GPU.
The Moto G04 features UFS 2.2 storage, which is faster compared to the eMMC storage. Also, Redmi and Infinix haven’t specified the storage type being used on the Redmi A3 and Infinix Smart 8.

The Moto G04 and Redmi A3 come pre-loaded with the latest version of Android, which is stock Android 14. The Infinix Smart 8 HD, on the other hand, ships with XOS 13 based on Android 13 (Go Edition).
Motorola says that Moto G04 won’t receive any Android platform update but the company will roll out Android security patch updates for two years. Infinix and Redmi haven’t revealed their plans regarding Android and security patch updates for their Infinix Smart 8 and Redmi A3.
In terms of software, the Redmi A3 and Moto G04 have an edge over the Infinix Smart 8 as these offer the latest version of Android.

The Moto G04 features a 16MP rear camera with an f/2.2 aperture, PDAF, and LED flash. The Redmi A3 packs an 8MP rear shooter that has an f/2.0 aperture.
The Infinix Smart 8 seems like a clear on-paper winner as it offers a 50MP primary rear shooter which is accompanied by an AI Lens and an LED flash.

The Moto G04 is the cheapest of the lot and comes pre-loaded with the latest version of Android, that is Android 14. Though people have different preferences when it comes to design and colour choice the Moto G04 does manage to stand out from the competition with vibrant colour options.
That said, both the Redmi A3 and the Infinix Smart 8 have comparable specs and features and they surely can be considered too, depending upon the UI one wants to go for, especially when someone is just starting out using a smartphone.
