Ola Cabs app now uses the in-house Ola Maps navigation system instead of Google Maps. The company’s CEO, Bhavish Aggarwal, took to the micro-blogging platform X to share changes coming to the app in the coming weeks. Apart from the new Ola Maps navigation, the app will also include the Krurtim chatbot along with a redesigned bottom navigation bar. Let’s take a look at all the changes introduced in the Ola Cabs app.

Ola Cabs Replaces Google Maps with In-House Ola Maps

Previously, the Ola Cabs app relied on Google Maps for navigation. Ola Maps have now replaced this. The new map system is designed to offer faster and more precise search with improved routing. Moreover, users can designate their favourite locations accurately for an easy cab booking experience.

Relying on a proprietary navigation system will allow the company to improve and update the mapping experience with feedback from users. This will help the company to improve the performance and credibility of its app.

Mobility and electric vehicles major Ola announced its in-house Ola Maps navigation system for its vehicles and app in 2022. The proprietary maps system then rolled out to the company’s electric vehicle range with MoveOS 4 in January this year.

The Ola Cabs app also gets a redesigned bottom navigation bar. It now houses Home (for cab booking), food ordering, EV ordering, and Krutrim, which is an AI chatbot from the company that can answer questions related to any topic like workout plans, best budget smartphones in India, and so on.
