OPPO recently launched the OPPO Reno 11 series smartphones in the Indian and global markets. The Reno 11 series includes the OPPO Reno 11 and OPPO Reno 11 Pro smartphones. But now, Digital Chat Station, a well-known tipster, has shared the early leaks regarding the upcoming OPPO Reno 12 series on Weibo, the Chinese social media platform.
OPPO Reno 12 Leaked Upgrades
Digital Chat Station’s latest post hints that upcoming OPPO Reno 12 series smartphones will sport the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 series sub-flagship platform chipset. The post indicates that OPPO will equip the devices with the 2023 flagship Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 SoC. The Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 SoC is the latest and most powerful chipset available from Qualcomm for 2024 phones.
The Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 has made its way to upper mid-range smartphones, including the OnePlus Ace 3, which will debut under the OnePlus 12R moniker in the international markets. iQOO is also preparing for the India launch of the iQOO Neo 9 Pro smartphone with the same sub-flagship platform chipset.
The tipster also confirms that OPPO will equip the next generation of Reno smartphones with improved periscope telephoto sensors. This could mean a new sensor with a higher optical zoom. OPPO currently uses a 32MP Sony IMX 709 telephoto sensor with 2x optical zoom on the Reno 11 series of smartphones.
OPPO introduced the OPPO Reno 11 series smartphones in November in the Chinese markets. The Reno 10 series smartphones launched in May 2023 in China and in July 2023 in the Indian markets. There’s a good chance that the Reno 12 series might follow a launch timeline similar to the Reno 10 series in China and international markets.
