It is revealed that OPPO is working on a customised Sony lens (possibly for the main camera) for the Reno 12 series. The inclusion of a customised Sony sensor will help the smartphone bring significant improvements to photography.

OPPO Reno 12 leak

OPPO equipped the OPPO Reno 11 Pro with a Sony IMX890 primary lens with OIS. The upcoming Reno 12 series might sport a custom Sony lens based on the LYT 900 sensor. The leak doesn’t mention any further details about the camera sensors of the Reno 12 series smartphones.

OPPO Reno 12 Series Expected Specifications

That said, it is rumoured to have a triple rear camera setup comprising a 50MP primary lens with OIS, an 8MP ultrawide lens, and a 50MP tertiary lens with support for 2x optical zoom.

It could also feature a 50MP selfie camera with support for autofocus. The vanilla Reno 12 could also sport a similar camera setup. However, the selfie snapper on the vanilla model will miss out on the autofocus functionality.

As for the other specs, the internal documents reveal that OPPO will debut the Pro model with the MediaTek Dimensity 9200 SoC. The chipset will pair with up to 12GB of RAM and 512GB of internal storage. The Dimensity 9200 SoC is a huge upgrade over the existing Dimensity 8200 SoC, which powers the Reno 11 Pro smartphone. The phone’s Chinese variant could be powered by a Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chipset and be backed by a 5000mAh battery with 67W fast charging support.

Since details are a little scarce, we will have to wait for something more substantial for a better idea. So, stick around.
