Marvel’s Spider-Man 2 Collector’s Edition is confirmed to be delayed in India indefinitely. Indian players who spent their amount on the game’s premium edition (Spider-Man 2 CE) are left with no official announcement or communication from PlayStation India regarding any information about it.
Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, developed by Insomniac Games, is undoubtedly one of the biggest game releases in 2023. The game made an astounding debut by selling more than 2.5 million units within 24 hours of its release. This remarkable achievement positions it as the fastest-selling game under the PlayStation Studios banner when measured within the first 24 hours. Impressively, the momentum continued, and the game reached a significant milestone, surpassing the five million units mark in just 11 days.
Spider Man 2 Collector’s Edition Indian Buyers Face an Indefinite Delay After a Month of Game’s Release
The game was released on October 20 and Indian players who ordered Collector’s editions still haven’t received it and are very upset with the lack of communication from the retailers.
🚨Latest update on Spider-Man 2 India Collector’s Editions.🚨
This is what Sony has told retail today:
“Dear all,
Please note that Spiderman 2 collector's edition is delayed indefinitely. Kindly take necessary steps to inform you partners accordingly.”#SpiderMan2 #ps5 #india— 0xSkeptic | Cringe Connoisseur (@RishiAlwani) December 1, 2023
Rishi Alwani, a prominent tipster and Indian games market analyst, has stated that Sony had informed the Indian retailers that the release of the “Spider-Man 2 Collector’s Edition” is facing an indefinite delay. Retailers have been instructed to inform their partners and customers about this delay and take necessary steps accordingly.
Initially, when the game was released, players were informed that the acclaimed edition of Spider-Man 2 was being delayed by a week or two well before its launch. The retailers have informed the buyers about the short delay of the Spider Man 2 CE. However, it prolonged and both the company & the retailers have been tight-lipped about any information regarding the delivery.
The pre-orders went live in mid-June 2023 and several Indian gamers paid for the Spider-Man 2 Collector’s Edition in full and eventually, they received nothing even after a month passed by after the game’s official release. PlayStation India managed well with the promotions for the game on newspapers, Metro rails but this incompetence from Sony India is making buyers frustrated.
This frustration is further escalated as the buyers face issues in getting refunds upon cancellation of the product which has not been delivered to date. Feedback from individuals who pre-ordered the Collector’s Edition indicates that refund requests are being denied. Nevertheless, ShopAtSC, the official Sony online store, has recognized the delay and is providing customers with complete refunds. It is expected that other retailers will adopt a similar approach and extend refund options.
The reported delay is attributed to obstacles in customs clearance, with speculation circulating about potential challenges in obtaining BIS (Bureau of Indian Standards) certification. Rishi Alwani and many others feel that this might not be an exception, as other developers have successfully launched high-profile products in India while Sony seems unable to do so.
In addition to the standard and deluxe editions for Spider Man 2, Insomniac Games launched a special edition of Collector’s Edition in limited quantity. This was only available through select retailers and PlayStation Direct. This special edition encompasses a download voucher for the Digital Deluxe Edition, a steel bookcase, and an impressive 19-inch display statue portraying Spider-Men engaged in a battle against Venom.
