Earlier this year, Xiaomi announced that the company will be replacing MIUI with HyperOS starting with the Xiaomi 14 Series. The company said that a select set of existing devices will also be migrated from MIUI to HyperOS via software updates.

The POCO F5 has now started receiving HyperOS via OTA updates. It is one of the first devices to get updated with Xiaomi’s new self-developed operating system. POCO is rolling out this update globally to all users. The company further added that HyperOS updates for other eligible models will be announced soon.

HyperOS Arrives on the POCO F5

POCO F5 users can now update their devices with HyperOS. The company has started rolling out an OTA update which will replace MIUI. Users can simply update their phone normally without any need for a computer or factory reset.

Users can check for the update by going into Settings > About Phone > Software Info > Updates. The HyperOS update for the POCO F5 is based on Android 14.

Xiaomi says that HyperOS brings several improvements over MIUI. It allows the company to integrate its devices better into its ecosystem. The new OS will not just be limited to smartphones as Xiaomi plans to use HyperOS across all of its products including tablets, IoT devices, etc.

Coming to the smartphone set of things, HyperOS claims to have improved resource management. The company has also implemented AI models in the software which adapts the system as per the usage pattern of the user. However, it is not clear whether all of these features will make it to each device.

The POCO F5 was launched in India in May 2023 with MIUI 14 based on Android 13. The device is expected to receive two Android updates and three years of security patches. The latest HyperOS version is the first major update for the POCO F5. However, the company has not officially released an exact update cycle for the device.

Apart from the POCO F5, the POCO F4, POCO F3, POCO X6, and several other devices from 2022-2023 are strong candidates to get updated to HyperOS. However, Xiaomi and POCO are yet to release an official list of eligible devices.
