Polestar, a Swedish automotive manufacturer, is gearing up for the launch of the first mobile phone in partnership with Chinese smartphone brand Meizu. The automotive manufacturer and smartphone brand share the same parent company, Geely. Today, we have spotted the upcoming Polestar Phone in China’s MIIT certification.
Polestar Phone MIIT Certification
The MIIT certification obtained by the smartphone confirms the design of the device. The images reveal that Polestar will equip the device with a design similar to the Meizu 21 Pro smartphone. The power button and volume rockers will be present on the right side of the device.
A triple rear camera setup placed in individual rings can be seen on the rear of the device. The rear of the device will also house the Polestar logo in the centre and Polestar Phone branding at the bottom. The right side of the device will also house the antenna markings and Meizu branding.
The design hints that Polestar will rebrand the recently launched Meizu 21 Pro smartphone. To those unaware, the Meizu 21 Pro was the last smartphone from the brand. Meizu recently announced the end of manufacturing smartphones and will now focus on AI development.
Polestar Phone: Everything We Know So Far
The moniker of the smartphone was confirmed through the Google Play Supported Devices list. The appearance on the list hinted that Polestar would soon debut the smartphone. Polestar is gearing up to launch smartphones to help the brand enable seamless integration with its EVs.
The upcoming Polestar Phone is said to be an accompanying device for the Polestar 4 EV. Polestar shared a glimpse confirming that the device will sport a flat display with a centred punch hole cutout. The device is teased to debut with a flat frame and in a white shade.
Polestar will equip the device with a primary lens with a f/1.9 aperture and a 23mm equivalent focal length. The device will also sport an ultrawide lens with an f/2.4 aperture and a telephoto lens with a 70mm equivalent focal length.
Meizu 21 Pro Specifications
Meizu equips the Meizu 21 Pro with a 6.79-inch AMOLED display with a resolution of 3192 x 1368 pixels. The AMOLED panel supports an LTPO 120Hz refresh rate, a peak brightness of 1350 nits, and gets protection from Meizu Titan Glass 2.0.
The smartphone is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 SoC, paired with up to 16GB of RAM and 1TB of storage. The Meizu 21 Pro features a triple rear camera setup with a 50MP primary lens with OIS and f/1.9 aperture.
The sensor is paired with a 13MP ultrawide lens with an f/2.4 aperture and a 10MP periscope telephoto lens with 3x optical zoom. The device is backed by a 5050mAh battery with support for 80W wired charging, 50W wireless charging, and 10W reverse wireless charging tech.
