Realme GT 5 Pro Launch Date Confirmed: Set to be Realme’s First Smartphone with Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 SoC, Periscope Sensor

Realme recently confirmed the launch of the upcoming Realme GT 5 Pro smartphone. The upcoming smartphone will be the Pro variant of the GT 5, which debuted in August 2023. The BBK-group-owned brand previously teased that the GT 5 Pro will be the first smartphone from the brand to equip a periscope lens. The brand recently concluded a conference in China where it announced the specifications of the periscope telephoto sensor of the forthcoming GT 5 Pro smartphone.

Realme also confirmed that it will soon debut a mid-range smartphone with a periscope lens at the event. We at MySmartPrice also spotted the device in China’s 3C certification, which reveals the device’s fast charging capabilities. MySmartPrice also spotted the smartphone in GeekBench in two configurations, hinting that the launch is nearing. Realme has shared a new teaser on Weibo, which reveals the launch date of the device in China.

Realme’s First Smartphone with Periscope Lens to Debut in December

The teaser shared by the brand confirms that the device will debut on December 7 in China. The event will go live at 2 PM (UTC + 8) and will be streamed through the brand’s social media handles. Realme has shared the launch event teaser with a periscope sensor image highlighting the smartphone’s zoom capability. The device is expected to be available for pre-booking through JD.com in the upcoming days.

Realme confirms through a teaser that the device will feature a 50MP Sony IMX 890 periscope telephoto sensor. The sensor will be equipped with Electronic Image Stabilisation (EIS) and Optical Image Stabilisation (OIS). Realme will equip the device with 1/1.56-inch sensor size, 2.7x optical zoom and 120x digital zoom support.

The Chinese OEM also reveals the capability of the upcoming Realme smartphone to equip with capabilities for shooting in RAW mode. Realme also confirms that the primary and periscope telephoto lens can shoot DOL-HDR images. The previous reports suggest that the device will feature a 50MP Sony LYT808 primary lens and an 8MP OV08D10 ultra-wide-angle lens.

Realme uses the same 50MP primary sensor, which will debut with the forthcoming OnePlus 12 smartphone. Realme also confirmed that Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 SoC will power the device. The GeekBench listing of the GT 5 Pro smartphone confirmed that the device will launch in 16GB and 24GB RAM variants apart from 12GB RAM variants.

The listing also ensures that the device will run on Android 14 out of the box. The 24GB variant of the device scored 2225 points in single-core and 6663 points in multi-core tests. The 3C listing reveals that the device will support 100W wired fast charging. The device is also confirmed to equip BOE’s 1.5K resolution AMOLED panel with a peak brightness of 3000 nits.
