Redmi is gearing up for the launch of a new budget smartphone. The company recently launched the Note 12 series in India and many other markets. It is also gearing up for the launch of the Note 12 4G in India on March 30. Another Redmi phone that might soon join the product lineup in various markets is the A2. The Redmi A2 is expected to launch later this year. Xiaomi has not confirmed any details about the launch of the entry-level phone. However, it looks like the launch could take place soon.
The Redmi A2 has been spotted on the Google Play Console certification website. Let’s take a look at what all has leaked about the upcoming Redmi entry-level smartphone ahead of its official launch.
Redmi A2 Google Play Console
The Redmi A2 will be one of the most affordable smartphones launching in global markets. The phone has visited the Google Play Console. The listing reveals that the budget phone from Redmi has the model number 23026RN54G. It also confirms the moniker of the device. In addition to this, the listing reveals that Xiaomi will launch the phone with a MediaTek MT6765 SoC, which is the MediaTek Helio G36 SoC. The fairly old SoC has a peak clock speed of 2.3GHz for the four primary A53 cores and 1.8GHz speeds for the silver cores. There is a PowerVR GE8320 GPU as well.
In addition to this, the listing confirms that the A2 will feature an HD+ display. This is not an improvement but same as the Redmi A1 series launched last year in India. The phone will have at least 2GB of RAM, according to the Google Play Console listing. This also means that the phone will run on Android’s Go Edition, Android 13 in this case.
An image attached with the listing confirms that the phone has a hole-punch cutout at the top centre for the front camera. Alleged design renders of the phone which had leaked in the past showed that it will sport a water-drop notch for the front camera. The phone was said to sport a 6.52-inch HD+ display and a dual-camera setup on the back. It was also said to feature an 8MP primary camera along with a 2MP depth sensor. For selfies, the Redmi A2 is likely to have a 5MP front camera. We can also expect the phone to pack a 5000mAh battery under the hood. It might support 10W charging out of the box.
The global variant of the A2 was also spotted previously on the NBTC, TUV and Bluetooth SIG certification websites. The listings confirmed that the phone will support Bluetooth 5.0. The phone has also acquired the Bureau of Indian Standard certification, suggesting an imminent launch in India. That being said, Xiaomi has not confirmed any details about the launch of the new A-series phone. We advise waiting for the official confirmation to know some more details about the same.
