Samsung Announces One UI 6.1 Update Timeline to Integrate Galaxy AI Into Galaxy Devices

Samsung introduced its ‘Galaxy AI’ with the Galaxy S24 series, and as the name suggests, it brings several generative artificial intelligence (GenAI) features to the device. Now, Samsung has announced the update timeline for the One UI 6.1 update, which will bring Galaxy AI to more Galaxy devices, including older smartphones from the brand.

One UI 6.1 Update to Include Galaxy AI

The update will be available for the Samsung Galaxy S23 series smartphones, Galaxy S23 FE, Galaxy Z Fold 5, Galaxy Z Flip 5, and Galaxy Tab 9 series tablets. The One UI 6.1 update will start rolling out at the end of March for the above-mentioned devices. Samsung adds that the update will elevate the experience of its users.

“Our goal with Galaxy AI is not only to pioneer a new era of mobile AI but also to empower users by making AI more accessible,” TM Roh, President and Head of Mobile eXperience Business at Samsung Electronics.

Samsung aims to reach more than 100 million users for Galaxy AI by 2024 and is explore more possibilities when it comes to AI on mobile phones. Currently, Samsung’s Galaxy AI features include the ability to adjust message tone and translate messages in 13 different languages using Chat Assist. Samsung is also offering Live Translate, which does real-time voice and text translations for phone calls.

The South Korean giant aims to improve the search experience with the introduction of the Circle to Search with Google feature. The Note Assist feature will allow users to create formats, generate summaries, and more with the help of GenAI.

Samsung recently started rolling out the Galaxy AI features to the Galaxy Buds 2 Pro, Galaxy Buds 2, and Galaxy Buds FE through an OTA update. The interpretation and live translation can be directly used within the earbuds. Samsung is also planning to bring the Galaxy AI features to the Galaxy smartwatches.
