Samsung, back in June, unveiled the Samsung Galaxy A22 5G handset. Now, the company might be gearing up to launch its mid-year refresh – Samsung Galaxy A22e 5G. Earlier this morning, we spotted the Samsung Galaxy A22e 5G with model number SC-56B on the Bluetooth SIG database.

The listing didn’t reveal anything about the smartphone except for the moniker and the model number. However, the handset with the model number SC-56B was launched as Samsung Galaxy A22 in Japan back in October 2020. This leads us to believe that the upcoming Samsung Galaxy A22e 5G could be a rebranded version of the Samsung Galaxy A22 5G (Japanese variant).

Samsung Galaxy SC-56B Specifications and Features

Since the handset is already available in Japan, all its specifications and features are known. The Galaxy A22 5G features a 5.8-inch TFT LCD panel with an HD+ display resolution. The Samsung Galaxy A22 5G is available in three colour variants – Red, White, and Black.

Powering the device is an octa-core MediaTek Dimensity 700 processor coupled with Mali G57 GPU. The handset comes in 4GB of RAM and 64GB of storage configuration. There is also a dedicated micro-SD card slot to expand the storage further. It boots Android 11.

The Samsung Galaxy A22 5G Japanese variant packs a 13MP rear camera and an LED flash. For selfies, it offers an 8MP shooter inside a waterdrop notch. The device is equipped with a 4,000mAh battery unit and 10W fast charging.

In terms of connectivity, it offers 5G, 4G, Wi-Fi 802.11ac, Bluetooth 5.0, NFC, and GPS. It has a USB Type-C port and a 3.5mm audio port. The handset is IP68 rated which makes it water-resistant. It doesn’t have a fingerprint scanner, so users need to rely on the face unlock feature.

Compared to the Samsung Galaxy A22 5G which is already available in the Indian and European market, the upcoming Galaxy A22e 5G looks like a downgrade in almost every department. We can expect Samsung Galaxy SC-56B to appear on other certification websites in the coming weeks.
