The past few weeks have been quite busy for Samsung. The company started off its 2020 launch spree with the launch of the Samsung Galaxy A51 and followed that up with the launches of a bunch of new phones ranging from the Galaxy Note 10 Lite, the Galaxy S 10 Lite to the new flagship-grade Galaxy S20 series. The latest handsets to be launched by the company belonged to the company’s popular M-Series — the Galaxy M31 and the Galaxy M21. And just when you thought Samsung was sort of done here, we have received clear indication about Samsung readying the launch of yet another budget handset in India — this time from the Galaxy A-Series. The handset in question here is the Samsung Galaxy A31.

Samsung Galaxy A31 India Launch: What we know

We can say with quite a bit of confidence that the Samsung Galaxy A31 is India-bound after the official India support page for the phone went live. The page itself doesn’t have any specific Galaxy A31-related content as of now. It should be updated with all relevant material, including the specs, and a downloadable user manual in the next few days.

Samsung Galaxy A31 Specifications (Expected)

The Galaxy A31 has previously appeared on the Bluetooth SIG website, as well as on the FCC page. These appearances have helped us to gather some information about the phone. As of now, we know some very obvious things about the Galaxy A31 — including the fact that it will be a dual-SIM device with support for 4G connectivity. The phone will also run the updated One UI with Android 10 running underneath.

While we still do not know what processor Samsung plans to use with this phone, it will almost certainly get an update in this department. Its predecessor — the Galaxy A30s came powered by Samsung Exynos 7904 SoC. Looking at Samsung’s tendency to use the Exynos 9611 on a wide variety of phones, there is a good chance that the A31 will also feature this processor. That being said, it would be very nice of Samsung if they launch the phone with either a 6 or 7-series SoC from Qualcomm (which we also think is quite unlikely, sigh!)

We also expect the Galaxy A31 to get an upgrade in the battery capacity. The previous generation device came with a 4,000 mAh battery and had support for 15W fast charging. Anyway, that is pretty much all we know about this new smartphone from Samsung. It remains to be seen if the ongoing Coronavirus-caused shutdown will have an impact on the launch-schedule of the Samsung Galaxy A31.
