Samsung One UI 5.0 Update Release Date

Google is yet to release the stable Android 13 for all devices which means that Samsung will announce the newer version of OneUI after then only. However, the company is expected to open the beta version of the One UI 5.0 in July 2022 for its selected users. The stable version of One UI 5.0 could be announced in the second half of the year which is in September or October 2022.

Samsung One UI 5.0 Top Features

Samsung has not confirmed any of the upcoming features that users will get to see in the One UI 5.0. However, the rumour mill says that the company is expected to bring smooth animations, an improved design, and better optimisations into the OneUI 5.0. Let’s discuss in detail:

New Notification Design

The upcoming One UI 5.0 will come with a new notification design. The company may introduce new icons. Moreover, the notification share and quick settings now have a slightly tweaked design by increasing the opacity as compared to the previous generation of One UI 4.1.

Stackable Widgets

The OneUI 5.0 update brings a new feature of stackable widgets. With this, users will be able to stack multiple widgets on the home screen. In order to do so, one needs to hold down on the widget, tap on ‘Add widget’, and select the ones you want to add.

OCR Feature in Gallery and Keyboard

Samsung has added a new OCR (Optical Character Recognition) feature in the One UI 5.0. With this feature, users will be able to copy text from the images right from the Gallery application. Moreover, the feature may also be made available for the Samsung keyboard application.

New Permission Dialogs

Samsung may also re-design the permission dialogs in the One UI 5.0 application. As per the latest leaks, the brand will be using the default Android permission dialogs, which may be visible at the centre of the screen.

New Security and Privacy Hub

The One UI 5.0 update may also bring new and improved Security and Privacy hub. The hub will be a one-stop for all security needs. It will come with some features like a Lock screen, accounts, Find My Mobile, App security, Updates, Privacy, and more.

Take Notes During Calls

Samsung has also added a new feature through which users will be able to take notes during a call. However, it seems that the feature is likely to available for S Pen devices only.

New Multi-Tasking Gestures

The upcoming One UI 5.0 may also bring some new multitasking features. Users will be able to change to a split-screen view by swiping up using two fingers. One can also swipe from the top corner towards the middle of the screen to switch the app from full screen to pop-up view.

Smooth Animations

OneUI 4.0

Samsung users have been complaining a lot about the delayed animations and the company seems to be coming up with a fix in One UI 5.0. The latest version of OneUI is tipped to make animations smoother. There’s no mention of what these animation changes are exactly, they could be changes in charging animation, UI animation, unlock animation, etc.

Improved Design

The Samsung One UI 5.0 is expected to have a few tweaks in the design. There’s very little chance of UI overhaul but we could get to see minor changes.

Better Optimisations

The Samsung One UI 5.0 operating system could bring better optimisations for apps and other features to get users the best experience from the Samsung ecosystem.

New Share Notes App

The update also brings new features to its Notes application. With this, users will be able to write, edit and share notes with up to 100 people at the same time. Everyone can see changes as soon as they are made.
