Hansal Mehta is coming back with another thrilling story after Scam 1992. Netflix recently revealed that filmmaker Hansal Mehta has contributed to the upcoming character drama series Scoop. Mehta and Mrunmayee Lagoo Waikul, famed for co-writing Thappad, were inspired to write Scoop by Jigna Vora’s autobiographical book ‘Behind the Bars in Byculla: My Days in Prison’. Mehta, who is well-known for directing successful films like Scam 1992, Shahid, and Aligarh, remarked that after reading Vora’s book, he felt “compelled” to adapt the tale for the big screen. When they initially read the book, Sanjay Routray, producer at Matchbox Shots, said they realised the “inspirational story of grit and courage” deserved to be shared on a bigger medium. And now, they are ready with the show to be premiered.

Official Trailer and Plot
The official trailer of the show reveals that the story will revolve around a journalist known as Jagurti Pathak. She is a brilliant crime reporter and has a way of getting out information from the crime lords and even the police department. Jagurti uses her connection and gets an interview with underworld don Chhota Rajan. However, all hell breaks loose when she is accused of the murder of a colleague journalist, Jaideb Sen. She finds herself in jail and her world comes tumbling down. The cell where is living has some of the most ruthless criminals like sharpshooters, bookies, and even underworld don Chhota Rajan. The story will revolve around how she endures the trials and “the truth is covertly suppressed”.
Hansal Mehta is the show’s director, and Sanjay Routray and Sarita Patil have produced the show. Karishma Tanna and Mohd Zeeshan Ayyub play the key characters in it. Apart from them, Harman Baweja, Deven Bhojani, Tannishtha Chatterjee, Tejasvini Kolhapure, Shikha Talsania, Tanmay Dhanania, Inayat Sood are also in the show. Matchbox Shots is the production company for the series. Mrunmayee Lagoo Waikul and Mirat Trivedi are the writers of the show.
