This week Sony is hosting an event where the company is expected to launch a new Xperia smartphone. While we had little to no information on the upcoming Sony Xperia smartphone, a last-minute leak has revealed information on the optics. The new Sony Xperia phone is said to come with a new 1-inch camera sensor. Let’s take a look at more details of the phone.
Sony Xperia Pro-I launch on October 26
Sony is hosting an event on October 26 at 11 pm EDT which is 8:30 a.m. on Tuesday in India. While the company has not specifically mentioned what phone it is going to launch on the stage, Sony has confirmed a new Xperia phone is coming. A tipster on Twitter with I_Leak_VN username has shared some of the images of the upcoming Sony Xperia smartphone which is reportedly called the Sony Xperia Pro-I.
The design renders and key features of the device have been leaked on Weibo. Let’s take a look at all the features of the device.
The leaked majorly revolves around the rear camera module and the design of the phone. Unfortunately, details of the display and other internals are still under the wraps. The device is expected to sport a 1-inch camera sensor on the back which we assume would be the primary shooter. Apart from this, the phone will feature three more cameras completing the quad-camera setup. The 1-inch primary camera is to have a variable aperture of f/2.0 to f/4.0. The image also reveals ZEISS Tessar T* branding on the camera model.
Further, the phone is also likely to feature the same imaging system as the Sony Alpha camera series. Features like eye auto-focus, new Pro video mode is also expected on the device. The device will also feature a dedicated camera shutter button as it is a camera-centric smartphone. Other expected features include a side-mounted fingerprint scanner and punch-hole display.
The Sony Xperia Pro-I won’t be the first phone with a 1-inch camera sensor as the Sharp Aquos R6 came out earlier this year. Like the Sony Z series camera, the Sony Xperia Pro-I will also be launched along with a vlog kit which will give the ability to attach add-ons like a microphone and a secondary display, and shooting grip with controls. Additionally, the company is also expected to launch a VR headset as an accessory to the Sony Xperia Pro-I device.
