TECNO’s POVA series combines stylish design with unique features within the budget segment. The POVA 6 Pro exemplifies this ethos as the latest addition to the lineup. On paper, the POVA 6 PRO boasts significant upgrades over its predecessor, including a 120Hz AMOLED display, a 108-megapixel triple rear camera setup, various lighting effects, and 70W charging support, among other enhancements. Along with the spec improvements, prices have also gone up compared to the POVA 5 Pro. Here’s a quick initial impression of the TECNO POVA 6 PRO.

TECNO POVA 6 PRO: Price And Availability

The POVA 6 PRO is available on Amazon India in two storage configurations.

  • 8GB RAM and 256GB storage: Rs 19,999
  • 12GB RAM and 256GB storage: Rs 21,999

TECNO POVA 6 PRO: Design

The POVA 6 PRO design now looks cleaner and better than its predecessor. However, the phone looks identical to the Infinix GT 10 Pro launched last year. While it continues with LEDs at the back, all 210 have shifted to the gigantic camera module, with many more customisation options available to users. TECNO has added over 100 customisation options for various scenarios, including an intelligent connection feature. The brand has clearly listened to users’ feedback on the issue.

TECNO has also replaced the RGB LEDs with white ones, which look much better. The flow is smoother, and you can now control which side’s LEDs you want to turn on. These LEDs produce enough light if you capture a small subject in low-light conditions. This is similar to Vivo’s aura light for the V-series.

We received the Comet Green variant, which looks like it has glass but is made of plastic. Meteorite Grey would be a good choice if you like dark shades. While the design is unique and appealing, mentioning specifications on the rear panel could have been avoided. It ruins the aesthetics of the phone.

The back panel is slippery and attracts fingerprint smudges, but you can slap on the case that TECNO has packed in the box. The case feels more premium than what others offer. Despite boasting a beefy 6,000mAh battery pack, TECNO has kept the phone’s thickness just 7.9mm. The device is lightweight and easy to hold.

TECNO POVA 6 PRO: Display

The POVA 6 PRO sports a tall 6.78-inch AMOLED display with a resolution of 1,080 x 2,460 pixels and a screen-to-body ratio of 98.3 percent. It supports up to 1300 nits of peak brightness, a 120Hz refresh rate, and 2160Hz PWM Dimming, which we consider a good move. Thanks to its flat frames, the phone has thin, symmetrical bezels around the display.

It features an in-display fingerprint sensor that works even if your hands are wet. The POVA 6 PRO display has been impressive so far. The colours are bright, and the screen content is visible even in Noida’s harsh summer daylight.

TECNO POVA 6 Pro: Cameras

The TECNO POVA 6 PRO has a 108-megapixel primary sensor that offers 3x in-sensor Zoom and 10x total zoom. In our initial testing, the pictures captured using the primary camera were good, with enough details and colour accuracy. It also sports a 2MP depth sensor and AI lens, which so far hasn’t convinced us. But we will test it further and share more insights in our review. The 32-megapixel front sensor captures social media-ready pictures, which is what everyone really wants these days.

TECNO POVA 6 PRO: Hardware and Software

The TECNO POVA 6 PRO is being touted as a gaming phone in the budget segment. It borrows the same chipset from its predecessor—the MediaTek Dimensity 6080—which is paired with 256GB of UFS 2.2 internal storage and up to 12GB of LPDDR4x RAM. The performance has been smooth so far, without any major lags. We will test it more extensively in the coming days, but you can check out the full performance review of the Dimensity 6080 SoC in our TECNO POVA 5 Pro review.

The phone runs Android 14-based HiOS 14 out of the box. The software has a few refinements, which we will discuss later in our review. TECNO is still not clear on the device’s update situation. It will receive two years of security updates, but there are no words about Android updates.

The POVA 6 PRO packs a large 6,000mAh battery and a 70W fast charger. The brand claims the device can go from 0 to 50 per cent in 19 minutes, but we will test that claim in the coming days. One feature we liked about the device is that when you plug in the charger, you get three options for charging it: low-temp charge, smart charge, or hyper charge. That’s impressive at this price segment.

TECNO has ditched DTS and gone with Dolby Atmos for the POVA 6 PRO. Other features include infrared remote control, IP53 rating, Dynamic Port 2.0, etc.

TECNO POVA 6 PRO: Final Thoughts

Despite stiff competition from devices like the iQOO Z9 (review), Realme 12+ 5G (first impressions), and POCO X6 (review), the POVA 6 PRO distinguishes itself with its unique features, including the Arc interface design and customisable lighting effects. It will be interesting to see where the device stands in the coming days. To know whether you should buy the POVA 6 PRO over its competitors, stay tuned for our full review on MySmartPrice.
