Truecaller‘s AI Spam Blocking feature has received a new level of protection for Premium users. The company has introduced a new Max Protection Level that uses AI to block all calls from unapproved contacts, even if they are not in the Truecaller database. Notably, the Basic protection level only blocks spam calls from recognised numbers listed in the database and those screened by users.
How to Use Truecaller Max Protection
The new feature is rolling out to Truecaller users in the Truecaller update v13.58 or later. Before you can use the feature ensure that your Truecaller app is updated then follow the steps below.
1. Tap the three-dotted icon in the top right corner of the Truecaller app.
2. Select the Settings option and tap the Block option.
3. Select the Max option to enable the new protection level.
4. Subscribe to the plan to start using it.
Bear in mind that the new Max protection level is only available to Android users. This is because Apple doesn’t allow caller ID services like Truecaller to check spammer status and block calls. Moreover, users will need to subscribe to Truecaller Premium to benefit from the new Truecaller Max protection level. Truecaller offers various premium plans for its users in India.

Truecaller AI Assistant Gets Better With Max Protection
Truecaller introduced an AI-powered call screening feature exclusive to Premium users last year, which is capable of taking calls on behalf of users and providing them with real-time updates. The main job of the Truecaller AI Assistant is to screen the calls for the user and block unwanted calls. With the new Max protection level, the assistant will be able to block all calls from unknown numbers.
This can be beneficial for Truecaller in India especially when the government has proposed a caller ID service for telcos to implement, which could give Truecaller a run for its money.
