WhatsApp is constantly striving to introduce new features that make the whole messaging experience intuitive and useful for its users. Today, the Meta-owned instant messaging platform has announced an upgrade to the voice messages feature on the app. WhatsApp users can now send view once voice messages to their contact list. Notably, the company introduced view once for photos and videos back in 2021, which allowed users to send media that self-destructed once viewed. WhatsApp is now adding the same functionality to voice messages on its platform. This feature is good for those who want to share sensitive information with their contacts.

WhatsApp has tweeted that the new feature is available now. The feature is an extension of view once photos and videos to the voice messages on the Meta-owned platform. Users can simply tap on the view once icon while recording the voice message and it will be deleted automatically after the recipient has listened to it.
The new feature is ideal for those who want to share sensitive data like ATM card PIN, password, and other such information. The view once audio messages will be marked with the one-time icon, which will inform the recipient that it can only be played once. WhatsApp assures that like all other interactions on the platform, view once audio messages are also end-to-end encrypted by default for privacy.
WhatsApp announced that the feature will roll out globally over the coming days. At the time of writing this, we have already received it on Android but it is yet to arrive on the iOS platform in India.
How to Send View Once WhatsApp Audio Messages?
Sending WhatsApp Audio Messages as view once is pretty straightforward. It’s the same as sending view once media in chat. Here’s how you can send view once audio messages on WhatsApp.
- Open WhatsApp on your phone.
- Go to chat of contact to whom you want to send an audio message.
- Hold and slide up the mic icon next to the text box to bring up the audio message interface.
- Tap on the dotted circular icon with ‘1’ inside.
- Send the audio message once recorded.
You have now sent a view once message to the desired contact. The audio message will be deleted once the recipient has listened to it.
