As we step into 2024, WhatsApp is working on some new tweaks to keep things interesting. The latest buzz is about a potential feature in the works for iOS users – the ability to pick a theme colour for the app.

According to WABetaInfo, this feature is currently cooking in the WhatsApp Beta for iOS 24.1.10.70 update. Users will soon get to choose a default theme colour from a selection of five options: green, blue, white, coral, and purple. This move is a break from the usual green theme that’s been WhatsApp’s trademark on both iOS and Android.

This is a welcome change for those who’ve grown a bit tired of the same old green. WABetaInfo hints at more changes in the pipeline, suggesting that even chat bubble colours might be up for grabs.

As of now, the feature is in development, so users will have to wait a bit. In the meantime, users can play around with chat wallpapers, choosing from options like Bright, Dark, and Solid colours or using their own images.

In addition to the iOS update, WhatsApp is also poised to revamp its web version. Testing is underway for an update that brings a darker colour scheme and a reimagined sidebar aimed at reducing eye strain and enhancing the overall aesthetic appeal of the app.

Additionally, WhatsApp is currently working on a fresh layout for businesses, allowing them to showcase verified badges on their channels. Businesses seeking to display the verified badge on their channels will need to sign up for Meta Verified. After successful subscription and activation, WhatsApp will present a blue verified badge on the respective channel.

So, as we kick off the new year, WhatsApp users can look forward to a bit of a facelift – a chance to switch things up and make their messaging experience a tad more personal.
