Open Network for Digital Commerce (ONDC) was launched in 2022 to serve as a one-stop e-commerce platform for all businesses across India. Since then, several small vendors and large retail chains have joined ONDC due to lower commission fees and other benefits compared to other e-commerce platforms.
Now, Domino’s has finally onboarded with ONDC. Users can now order their favourite pizzas using the Pincode app by PhonePe and save on higher fees that Zomato and Swiggy typically charge. The service is currently available in some parts of Delhi, and should soon be available across all cities in India.
Domino’s has been trying to join ONDC since 2023 to make itself available across all major delivery platforms in the country. The pizza giant already operates in online channels via apps like Swiggy and Zomato, but it has to pay hefty commission fees to these platforms.
As Domino’s handles the food delivery part independently by using in-house agents, this also does not please the food delivery aggregators. Although Domino’s also has its own app and website, third-party delivery apps remain a major source of their online orders. Hence, Domino’s joining ONDC will not just help the pizza chain, but it will also boost ONDC as it gets a major nationwide player.
How to order Domino’s Pizza using ONDC
Users in the Delhi NCR region can use the Pincode app by PhonePe to directly order pizzas from Domino’s. The company is expected to join more ONDC apps in the upcoming few months and expand its availability across other cities in the country.
The only downside of ordering pizzas on ONDC is that customers may not be able to redeem all Domino’s offers. The pizza chain often releases festive discounts, buy-one-get-one schemes, and even coupon codes. Although ONDC also has discount offers running occasionally, it may not sync with the ongoing Domino’s offers.
