OnePlus 15 India Launch Details Revealed: Big Design Overhaul, Flagship Hardware Inside

OnePlus is gearing up to launch the OnePlus 15 in India. The microsite for the device is already live and the phone is said to arrive shortly after its China launch which is on October 27th. From all the teaser images, one thing is clear: OnePlus is dropping its long-standing circular camera module, instead adopting a square camera block with rounded corners. This represents a significant design shift, giving the OnePlus 15 a cleaner and more contemporary appearance.
On the hardware side, the OnePlus 15 is powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chipset, paired with newly launched OxygenOS 16 based on Android 16. Its 1.5K BOE Flexible OLED display with a 165Hz refresh rate promises smooth visuals across gaming, streaming, and everyday usage. The device comes with a large 7,300mAh battery, supporting 120W wired and 50W wireless charging, ensuring it can handle heavy use throughout the day. OnePlus has also introduced a new “Glacier” cooling system aimed at preventing overheating, a feature likely to appeal to Indian users who game or multitask extensively on their devices.
Camera capabilities continue to be a focus for OnePlus. The OnePlus 15 features a triple 50MP sensor setup, covering ultra-wide, main, and telephoto photography needs, alongside a 32MP front camera. When we compare the camera specs with the previous OnePlus models, this represents an incremental upgrade in imaging. So it looks like the company is focusing more on consistency and reliability rather than experimental features.
Though OnePlus’s journey in India has been interesting, the company started off as a niche “flagship killer,” but today it has emerged as a premium player. As a result, the company is investing heavily in India. For example, under its project Starlight, the company is going to invest Rs 2,000 crore by 2027. It will help OnePlus focus on localisation, expanding offline stores, improving after-sales service, and introducing features tailored to Indian users.
When it comes to the pricing, obviously, the company has not released any details about it. But since it’s a flagship product from OnePlus, it is expected to cost around Rs 70,000. While it’s much cheaper than some ultra-premium smartphones that cost over Rs 1 lakh, it still places the OnePlus 15 in the premium smartphone category, and it will have to face tough competition from Samsung, Apple, Vivo, OPPO, and Pixel devices.
However, its combination of top-tier hardware, fast charging, smooth software, and reliable brand support makes it a strong contender for users who want a flagship experience without compromise.
The OnePlus 15 launch also shows broader trends in the Indian smartphone market. Today, more and more consumers are looking forward to premium devices that offer solid build quality, amazing camera capabilities, super-fast performance, and brand prestige. These days, users are no longer just looking for functional smartphones; they want devices that deliver speed, long-term reliability, and a polished design. And it seems like OnePlus is positioning the 15 to meet these expectations, combining hardware improvements, a refreshed aesthetic, and stronger customer support.
